The root of Rehmannia glutinosa is one of the traditional Chinese medicine, which gets its name because its underground root is yellow and white, also known as Shengdi, Huaiqing Rehmannia, chicken drinking and so on. It is a perennial herb of Scrophulariaceae. According to the processing method, it is divided into fresh Rehmannia, dried Rehmannia and cooked Rehmannia glutinosa. It is cultivated all over our country and abroad. Let's take a look at the seed price and planting method of Radix Rehmanniae.

How much is the seed of Rehmannia glutinosa?

The price of Rehmannia glutinosa seeds is about 50,100 yuan per jin, but it varies with seed quality, producing area, variety and so on. The variety of Rehmannia glutinosa is mixed, coupled with long-term asexual reproduction, and there is a phenomenon of degradation, and the yield varies greatly. Rejuvenation through seed reproduction is one of the means to overcome the degradation of Rehmannia glutinosa. Select individual plants with high yield and high quality in the field, collect seeds and sow them in pots or fields, first breed seedlings for one year, then choose large and strong rhizomes to continue propagation in the field the next year, and select rhizomes with high and stable yield in the third year to propagate. In this way, good varieties can be obtained by eliminating inferior and superior quality for several consecutive years, and the yield is often 30% higher than that of local varieties.

Planting conditions of Rehmannia glutinosa

Rehmannia glutinosa prefers loose and fertile sandy loam, while clayey red loam, yellow loam or paddy soil is not suitable for planting. Rehmannia glutinosa is a light-loving plant, and the planting site should not be close to the edge of the forest or intercropped with tall crops. When the soil temperature is 11-13 ℃, the emergence time is 30-45 days, and 25-28 ℃ is the most suitable for germination. In this temperature range, if the soil moisture is suitable, it will germinate one week after planting and emerge at 15-20 days, and the rhizome below 8 ℃ can not germinate. It takes 150 to 160 days from planting to harvest.

Sowing method of Rehmannia glutinosa

Rehmannia glutinosa is generally sown in spring and begins to sow when the ground temperature is stable above 10 ℃. The furrow spacing is 15 cm, and the depth of the ditch is 1 cm. However, because the seeds of Rehmannia glutinosa are small, the weight of a thousand seeds is 0.15g, and the soil cover should not be too thick. When using seeds to propagate, we should pay attention to the management of moisturizing and saving soil moisture, which is generally planted in the production field in the following spring. After sowing Rehmannia glutinosa in many places, interplanting peas and early spring dwarf vegetables beside the border (ridge). The best interplanting plants are short growth period and short growth period, and interplanting plants should not be too dense.

Planting method of Rehmannia glutinosa

1. Land selection and land preparation: Rehmannia glutinosa should select sandy loam with deep soil layer, fertile soil and good drainage. At the same time, 2000-3000 kg of mature compost and 25 kg of superphosphate should be applied per mu. Then flatten and rake the beds, paying special attention to the fact that Rehmannia glutinosa should not be replanted.

2. Replenishing seedlings: when the height of Rehmannia glutinosa seedlings is 10cm to 12cm, one strong seedling will be left in each hole. In case of deficiency, plants should be replanted in time in cloudy days, and seedlings should be raised with soil when replanting, so that the survival rate is higher.

3. Weeding in middle tillage: the rhizome of Rehmannia glutinosa is shallowly buried in the soil, and the middle tillage should be shallow to avoid root injury. The weeds around the seedlings should be pulled out by hand. After the plants are closed, stop the middle tillage.

4. Reasonable topdressing: Rehmannia glutinosa likes fertilizer. In addition to applying sufficient basic fertilizer, 100 kg of superphosphate and 30 kg of rotten cake fertilizer are applied per mu after interseedling to promote the development and expansion of rhizome. When the row is closed, ash is applied once between rows to promote the healthy growth of the plant.

5. Timely irrigation: Rehmannia glutinosa needs a large amount of water in the early stage, so it should be watered frequently, and the later stage is the period of underground rhizome expansion, so water should be saved. Attention should be paid to timely drainage in the rainy season to prevent the occurrence of root rot.

6. besides the main root, Rehmannia glutinosa can also grow slender underground stem along the surface, which is called string root. These roots lose a lot of nutrition and should be eradicated in time in field management.

7. pest prevention: the main diseases of Rehmannia glutinosa are spot blight, ring disease and Fusarium wilt, which generally begin to occur in early May and serious from June to July, so attention should be paid to timely control. Pests include red spiders, ground tigers, grubs and so on.

8. Harvest and processing: when Rehmannia glutinosa is planted in spring, when the aboveground stems and leaves are withered and yellow in November of that year, it should be dug in time, and a 35-centimeter deep trench should be opened at one end of the border. Carefully pick the rhizome in sequence, and then use a special oven to process it into mature land to become a commodity.
