Shegan is a perennial plant, its rhizome can be used in medicine, has the efficacy of heat-clearing and detoxification, detumescence and pain, antitussive and expectorant effect, the main treatment of tonsillitis and low back pain and other symptoms. It is widely distributed in the tropics and subtropics and is planted in various provinces of our country. Let's take a look at its planting techniques.

1. Soil preparation and fertilization

If you choose a place with warm climate and plenty of light to plant, the requirement for dry soil is not strict, and it can also be planted in hillside dry land, and it is best to plant in sandy loam soil with high topography, loose and fertile soil and good drainage. When preparing the soil, we should apply sufficient base fertilizer, apply 2000 kilograms of mature organic fertilizer per mu, spread it evenly on the ground, and mix it with the soil when ploughing. Then rake it fine and level it out. Make a wide flat bed of 90cm, irrigate it and plant it when the topsoil is loose.

2. Reproduction

There are two propagation methods: seed propagation and split propagation. The sowing time is in November. Before sowing, the seeds are treated with variable temperature to improve the germination rate. When sowing, the seeds and fine sand are mixed and scattered into the shallow trench, generally sowing 1-2kg per mu. After sowing, cover with a layer of fine soil and suppress it slightly. The method of ramet propagation can be carried out at the same time during harvest. The disease-free, damage-free and bright yellow rhizome is selected and cut off according to the branches. Each rhizome with 1-2 root buds is placed in a cool place to dry, so that the wound is healed and planted in holes with a row spacing of 20 × 9cm. The depth of the hole is 5-6cm, one plant in each hole, the bud head will be up, and seedlings can emerge after the beginning of spring.

3. Fertilizer soil and water management

It is necessary to keep the soil moist and make the seedlings emerge quickly before spring emergence, and loosen the soil and weed in time after the seedlings are unearthed, so as not to affect the emergence of the seedlings because of the hard soil or more weeds. The same is true for those who emerge in winter, and we should also pay attention to the temperature to avoid freezing damage caused by low temperature, while those who breed should be poured with frozen water, loosen the soil and weed after emergence, and cultivate the soil according to the actual production situation to avoid lodging. Drainage and waterlogging prevention measures should be taken in the overcast and rainy season to avoid root rot, resulting in reduction of yield, sturdy growth for dry food, improvement of yield and quality, topdressing is essential, generally increase fertility before growth, fertilizer and water should be controlled in the later stage of growth, dung and water fertilizer is generally used in the early stage, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer is applied in the later stage to increase the yield.

4. Bolting and topping

Shoot stem will generally pick bolting and blossom from July to August, and this is also the time when it consumes the largest amount of nutrition, so it must be bolted and topped in time in addition to planting, so as to reduce nutrient consumption, make it concentrated for rhizome growth and increase yield. According to practical production, the field after bolting and topping can increase production by 10%. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen ventilation and light transmission between plants, otherwise poor ventilation and light transmission will lead to withering and shedding of leaves in the lower half of the plant, which should be removed in time to facilitate the concentration of nutrients, which can not only avoid nutrient consumption, but also prevent diseases and insect pests.

The above is the planting technology of Shegan. I hope it can help you. If you want to know more about the planting of medicinal materials, please follow us.
