Cinnamon, also known as Yushu and Ping'an Tree, is a plant of the genus Cinnamomum, which is a very precious tree species. Its bark is often used to make spices, cooking materials and medicinal materials. It has high edible and medicinal value, and has the effect of tonifying fire and helping yang, dispelling cold and relieving pain, warming meridians. So do you know how to grow it? Let's take a look.

1. Land selection and preparation

Cinnamon likes warm and humid climate and is suitable for growing in an environment where the average temperature is above 20 degrees. When the temperature is below 20 degrees, it will grow slowly or stop growing, which requires plenty of rainfall, so when cultivating, we should pay attention to whether the local weather and climate are suitable for his growth. Choose a sunny, leeward and sunny slope to plant, which requires sandy loam with deep soil layer, fertile and loose soil quality and good drainage. After selecting the plot, the soil should be ploughed and applied with enough organic fertilizer such as barnyard manure or compost, and then made into a high border with a width of 1m, a height of 10cm or a width of 1.2m and a height of 20cm.

2. Harvest seeds

There are three propagation methods of cinnamon: sprouting propagation, cutting propagation and seed propagation, but sowing propagation is used in large area seedling breeding. The mature fruit growing on the plant is harvested from February to April every year, and the mature fruit is characterized by purple-black skin and soft pulp. After harvest, it is scrubbed in clean water, the peel and pulp are removed, and the seeds sunk under the water are removed to dry. Sowing is best when picking and sowing, because cinnamon seeds have a short life span, exposure and long storage will reduce its vitality and affect the germination rate.

3. Sowing and raising seedlings

After the seeds are treated, they should not be sowed immediately. They must go through the steps of accelerating germination in order to ensure the germination rate. Mix the seeds with wet sand at 1:2 and store them in a cool and sheltered place indoors. The seeds can be sown after about two months. Sowing with 20 kg of seeds per mu, covered with a layer of fine soil about 2cm after sowing, and then covered with plastic film or straw to keep warm and moist. Plastic film and rice straw should be removed in time when the seedlings are unearthed, and weeds should be removed. When the seedlings grow to 3-5 true leaves, they can begin to water and fertilize, and when the seedlings grow to 30cm, they can be planted.

4. Colonization

When planting, first dig planting holes, each hole according to 3-4 meters, row spacing 2-3 meters, each hole can be applied 20 kilograms of soil fertilizer as base fertilizer. From March to April in spring, choose a cloudy or light rainy day to pick up the seedlings, cut off the excess branches and leaves and overlong main roots at the base of the seedlings, dip them in yellow mud, pack them with wet grass, and send them to the planting site. When planting, it is necessary to straighten the seedlings, stretch their roots, step on them after covering the soil, and water the roots in time if the soil is dry.
