When it comes to peppermint, the first thing that comes to mind is mint-flavored food. In fact, peppermint is a plant. It is a very common traditional Chinese medicine. All mint-flavored foods are extracted from peppermint. Peppermint has cool detoxification, treatment of fever, headache and other effects. The cultivation of peppermint is also relatively simple, but it still needs to be managed. So today, the editor has brought you the field management method of mint. Let's take a look at it.

1. Ploughing and weeding

The primary management of mint is weeding by ploughing, which can promote the growth and development of mint and strengthen the absorption of nutrients. When peppermint seedlings grow to about 8-12 cm, it is necessary to carry out intertillage weeding work, pay attention to depth when ploughing, do not affect the root expansion too deeply. Then in the later growth, there should be no less than two times of weeding and weeding, the first before the ridge closure and the second after harvest. And in the process of its growth, the number of weeds in the peppermint field should be increased appropriately to avoid continuous cropping.

2. topdressing at the right time

The growth time of peppermint is relatively long, so the demand for nutrition is very large, we should not only fully apply the base fertilizer before planting, but also apply fertilizer in time during the growth of peppermint. And the times of topdressing should not be less than 2 times, and the amount and nutrition ratio should be controlled according to the planting area of peppermint and the fertilizer content of the soil. Do not overapply fertilizer, especially in the early stage of mint growth, otherwise it is easy to grow, aggravating the phenomenon of mint lodging and falling flowers and leaves. According to the plant growth, foliar fertilizer should be applied timely to promote the growth of mint leaves, strengthen photosynthesis and improve nutrition accumulation.

3. Water management

Peppermint is a kind of water-loving crop, especially in the early and middle stages of mint growth, because the root of peppermint is not fully developed, the water absorption capacity is not strong, and the demand for water is large. Water should be watered at least once a month in the first and middle stages, and the frequency and amount of watering should be reduced after passing the closure. Prevent the stem and leaf from absorbing too much water, resulting in the instability of the plant center of gravity, lodging, causing the leaf to fall too much, affecting the yield. And the watering should be stopped 3-4 weeks before harvest, and the field moisture should not be too much, and the stagnant water should be discharged out of the field in time in case of rainy weather.

4. Pick the heart in time

Regular observation of mint growth showed that when the plant leaves were too thin and the growth was weak, the apical buds of the main stem should be removed properly to promote the growth of mint leaves and increase the yield of peppermint. When picking the heart, you should pay attention to the weather, not in cloudy and rainy weather, and there should be sufficient yang pass, because this is conducive to wound healing and prevent wound infection from causing diseases and insect pests. When the terminal bud is removed, fertilizer is applied in time to promote the germination of new buds and enhance the growth ability of peppermint. However, it should be noted that when the peppermint branches and leaves are dense, do not carry out the heart-picking work.

The above is the field management method of mint planting, planting is the first step, field management is the most important thing to grow mint. And at the same time of management, we should also do a good job in the prevention and control of various diseases and insect pests, prevent the growth of peppermint, reduce the yield of peppermint, and threaten the economic benefits of planting.
