Cornus officinalis is one of the commonly used medicinal materials in China, and it has a long history of application. It is often used for diseases such as deficiency of liver and kidney, dizziness, deficiency of sweat and so on. And with its increasing demand, many people begin to grow it, so how should it be planted? Let's take a look.

1. Land selection and preparation

Should choose leeward to the sun, sufficient light, deep soil layer flat or slow planting, the planting land is suitable for fertile, loose, well-drained neutral and slightly acidic sandy loam, preferably close to the water source, disease irrigation. After selecting the planting site, turn it deep into 30-40cm before winter, and apply about 3000 kg of farm manure or cake fertilizer per mu as base fertilizer before sowing half a month. In making a border with 1.2m wide, high 25cm and wide 25cm, waiting for sowing.

2. Methods of reproduction

There are many propagation methods of Cornus officinalis, including sowing, striping, cutting and grafting, but sowing and propagation are used in production. Harvest the fruit when it is ripe, dry it for 3-4 days, remove the pulp, soak the seeds in water with bleach, make the oily shell rot, remember to stir when soaking, and sow the seeds with plant ash. Sowing using the way of sowing, according to the 25cm row spacing 5cm deep shallow ditch on the border surface, evenly sow the seeds, cover a layer of soil fertilizer, generally sow 40-60 kg per mu. Pay attention to keeping the soil moist after sowing, and seedlings can emerge in about 40 to 50 days.

3. Seedling stage management

After emergence, the soil should be kept moist. When the seedlings grow to 3-4 true leaves, time should be given to seedlings and weeds should be removed. According to the plant growth condition, topdressing should be applied twice, and 4-5 kg urea per mu should be applied. When the seedlings grow to 10-20cm, in case of drought and strong light, the best shading and drought prevention measures should be taken, and frozen water should be poured before winter, combined with soil cultivation and fertilization to make them survive the winter safely. When the annual seedling grows to 70-80cm, it can be planted in the spring of the following year.

4. Colonization

In order to ensure its normal growth, generally plant 30-50 trees per mu, if there are other trees or shrubs, only about 20 trees can be planted, and the planting density is determined according to the actual situation of the planting land. The best time to plant is from December to January, because this is the dormant period of Cornus officinalis, when planting can improve the survival rate. Choose to start seedlings on a cloudy day, grow seedlings with soil, trim their roots and dip them in mud, and it is best to plant with them. 20 kg of barnyard manure is applied to each hole before planting, and mixed with fine soil. The plants are upright and loaded, and when half of the soil is filled, the seedlings are lifted, so that the roots are closely connected with the soil, and then trampled and watered to facilitate survival.
