1. Land selection and preparation

Yujin likes a sunny, warm and humid environment, so it is necessary to choose sandy soil with sufficient light, abundant precipitation and deep and fertile soil, which is loose in the upper layer and compact in the lower layer, and has a strong ability to conserve water and fertilizer. Plough it for 30-40cm before planting. Harrow fine leveling, according to the soil fertility status of appropriate application of some farm manure as base fertilizer. Yujin can be intercropped with corn, but continuous cropping is avoided, so rotation should be reasonable when planting.

2. Methods of reproduction

The reproduction of Yujin can be sexual and asexual, but in production, asexual reproduction is generally used in order to be convenient and fast. To harvest turmeric in winter, leave the robust and disease-free tubers for seed, store them in a ventilated and dry place, and take them out in February-March of the following spring. Clean up the soil, cut each tuber into several pieces, require 1-2 strong buds on each piece, dig holes according to the row spacing of 30 × 30cm, and plant one piece in each hole, about 150kg per mu.

3. Field management

Yujin generally does not need watering before emergence, but if the climate and soil are too dry, it can be properly watered. After watering, the water seeps down, and the topsoil can be loosened and weeded when the topsoil is slightly dry. To loosen the soil is to hoe shallowly, not too deep, so as not to cause damage to the seedlings, while weeding only needs to keep the field weed-free. When it comes to summer, it is the peak growing season of Yujin, when it needs a lot of water, so it should be often watered to keep the soil moist, but at the same time, we should also pay attention to the drainage and waterlogging measures in the rainy season to avoid stagnant water leading to rotting roots. In addition, more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be applied, topdressing 2-3 times a year to improve the nutrients needed for its growth, and it is recommended to apply mature organic fertilizer.

4. Diseases and insect pests

Yujin will be disturbed by diseases and insect pests when planting, which is the high incidence period of leaf spot disease from April to August, and soft rot is very easy to occur from June to July, so it is necessary to take good control measures. In addition, it often occurs that the soil silkworm bites off the fibrous root on the mother ginger, does not grow tuber, reduces the yield of turmeric, and should also take good prevention and control measures.
