Polygonum cordata is a perennial herb, the whole herb can be used as medicine, it can treat injury, arthritis, sweat spot, acne and other diseases, and play the role of anesthetic analgesia and detumescence. So how should it be planted? Let's have a look with the editor.

1. Land selection and preparation

Polygala has strong vitality, like warm and humid environment, cold and drought tolerance, strong adaptability to the environment, lax requirements for soil, and can grow in sufficient light and semi-shade. However, for the sake of yield and quality, it is better to choose humus soil or sandy loam soil with good drainage and rich organic matter. When preparing the soil, clean up the residual plants of weeds on the ground, apply rotten farm manure as base fertilizer, dig a good drainage ditch to facilitate later drainage and wait for sowing.

2. Sowing seeds

Macleaya cordata is propagated by seeds, and the general sowing time is from February to April in spring and from July to September in autumn. the seeds in these two periods have high germination rate and grow best. Soak the seeds in water for 10-12 hours before sowing, sow them and mix them with fine soil and plant ash evenly, trench the ground according to the row spacing of 40-50 cm, spread the seeds evenly into the ditch, cover the soil slightly, and water to keep the soil moist. Seedlings can emerge in 15 days, generally 0.3-0.4 kg per mu.

3. Field management

After the seedlings are completed, the seedlings should be carried out in combination with weeding, the seedlings should be carried out twice, the plant spacing should be controlled at 40-45 cm, and the disease and insect seedlings should be removed, leaving strong seedlings, and the surplus seedlings can be transplanted in another place. Seedlings need more water at the initial stage of growth, so they should be watered timely and appropriately according to the dry and wet condition of the soil to ensure the formation of roots as soon as possible and promote the growth of seedlings. In addition, it can also be combined with weeding for intermediate ploughing, loosening the soil and promoting root development. when the seedlings grow to 30 cm, they should be fertilized appropriately according to their growth conditions, mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, so as to improve the disease resistance of the plants. Pay attention to stagnant water in the rainy season so as not to cause diseases and insect pests or cause plant root rot.

4. Pest control

The leaves were mainly damaged by spot disease. Round or near round spots were selected on the leaves at the onset of the disease, which became grayish brown in the later stage, and black spots grew on the spots, that is, the conidia of pathogens, which could be spread by means of rainy season and wind. During the prevention and treatment, we should do a good job in clearing the garden in winter, burn the diseased and residual plants, and spray chlorothalonil or carbendazim before and after the disease. Pest damage to seedlings with aphids can be controlled with dimethoate emulsion once a week for 2-3 times in a row.
