Uncaria alias Hook Ding, hanging vine, eagle claw wind, inverted thorn and so on, at the same time evergreen vine, its stems and branches can be used as medicine, with the effect of clearing heat and calming the liver, calming the wind and calming down alarm, it is an important medicine in pediatrics of traditional Chinese medicine, and its application has a long history. At present, the market demand is increasing day by day, but the wild resources are seriously reduced, so there are domestic species in many areas, so how to plant Uncaria? Let's take a look.

1. Land selection and preparation

The adaptability of Uncaria is strong, and the requirements for the soil are not strict. The general soil can grow normally, but it grows better on the loam where the soil layer is deep, fertile and loose, and climbing monkeys. After selecting the land, turn over the land deeply, break it up and rake it fine, then apply basic fertilizer to make the border, with a width of 1-1.2 meters. The field can choose hillside and forest, dig holes according to the row spacing of 3 meters before planting, and apply rotten farm manure as base fertilizer for each hole.

2. Methods of reproduction

Uncaria can be propagated by three methods: seed, cutting and branching. The seeds are collected and planted in autumn and sown with picking. The seeds are spread evenly into the ditch on the border surface according to the row spacing of 12-15 cm, and can be covered with a layer of fire-ash soil and fine soil. Ramet propagation should be carried out in combination with ploughing in spring to dig up the roots and promote the germination of adventitious buds. When the buds grow into new plants, they can be cut off from the roots and replanted. Cutting is usually carried out at the beginning of March, when it is the period of flower bud differentiation. Cut the 2-year-old shoots with buds on the plant, and each node should be cut with 2-3 strong buds.

3. Field management

Those who breed with seeds emerge in the spring of a year, weeding and clearing the garden in time, and after cutting propagation survives, thin fertilizer should be applied every other month. After planting, it is necessary to plough, weed and cultivate the soil in time. Uncaria begins to germinate new branches before and after Ching Ming Festival, and the top branch should be cut off when the Autumn Equinox, which can promote the plant to germinate new branches. Thin fertilizer should be applied every 40 days after planting, and a layer of manure should be covered in winter to facilitate the plant to survive the winter.

4. Pest control

The disease of Uncaria is mainly root rot disease, which mostly occurs in the seedling stage, when the disease occurs, the roots of the seedlings rot, the stems and leaves gradually die, the prevention and control method is timely drainage to avoid soil water to induce the disease, timely removal of diseased plants, disinfection by spraying lime powder on the disease points, or comprehensive spraying of carbendazim to prevent the spread of the disease. Pests are harmful to aphids and heart borer, aphids can be controlled by dimethoate, and heart borer can be sprayed with trichlorfon.
