Ministry of Finance: Strongly Supporting the Implementation of a New Round of Returning Farmland to Forests and Grasslands
According to the "New Round overall Plan for returning farmland to Forest and grassland," in 2015, the state arranged a new round of task of returning farmland to forest and grassland of 10 million mu, mainly concentrated in Hebei, Inner Mongolia and other 18 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government) and the Xinjiang production and Construction Corps, of which 9.4 million mu were returned to forest and 600000 mu to grass. In 2015, the central government allocated 4.964 billion yuan in special funds for the new round of returning farmland to forests and grasslands, including 4.928 billion yuan in cash subsidies and 36 million yuan in one-time subsidies for work expenses, double that in 2014.
In order to further implement the new round of returning farmland to forest and grassland and speed up the pace of ecological construction, since 2015, the Ministry of Finance, together with the Forestry Bureau, has successively carried out research in Yunnan, Shaanxi and Hubei provinces. At present, the Ministry of Finance, in conjunction with the Development and Reform Commission, the Forestry Bureau, the Ministry of Land and Resources and the Ministry of Agriculture, is stepping up efforts to study and improve a new round of policies related to returning farmland to forests and grasslands.
