Last Updated: 2024/09/20, Rose planting is often based on ramet propagation, but it can also be propagated by pressing and cutting. here we briefly introduce these three ways of propagation. One year before ramet propagation, sufficient fertilizer and watering should be applied near the rhizosphere of the mother plant, while maintaining the soil.

Rose planting is often based on sub-propagation, but can also be layering, cuttage to propagate, below we briefly introduce these three propagation methods.

division propagation

One year before plant division, sufficient fertilizer and watering should be applied near the rhizosphere of mother plants, and the soil should be kept loose and moist to promote a large number of roots to sprout. Because rose tillering ability is very strong, after every time pumping new branch, mother branch is easy to wither, so must be near the rhizosphere shoot transplant to go elsewhere in time, make mother branch still can grow exuberantly. Therefore, from November to December every year, after the plant leaves, or when the buds just sprout in February of the following year, new plants growing strong beside the mother plant can be dug from the big flower pier, each cluster has 2~3 stems, and planted separately with roots. After planting, the stem is cut off from 20~25cm above the soil surface, and it can bloom in clusters after 2~3 years of cultivation.

layering propagation

in that plum rain season of June to August every year, the healthy branch of the current year are selected, bent into the soil, the soil part is cut and embed into the wound with soil blocks, buried in the soil, fixed with bamboo fork or tree branches, the branches are exposed to the ground, the soil is kept moist, roots can be taken in 2 to 3 months, and the next spring can be separated from the mother plant and planted separately.

cutting propagation

Before sprouting in early spring, 1-year old branches with strong growth and no diseases and insect pests are selected, cut into cuttings with a length of about 20cm, obliquely inserted into a cutting bed made of new river sand with a depth of 12 - 14cm, compacted and watered, and the temperature of the sand bed is often maintained. After about 30 days, roots are rooted, and transplanted after germination. Sand bed cuttings healing rooting easier, but in the warm room sunny place or in the field arch plastic shed cuttings, management work to be careful. Softwood cuttings are generally carried out in the rainy season, semi-mature branches are taken, and the middle and lower parts are cut into cuttings with 2 to 3 nodes and buds, obliquely inserted in the soil, watered after compaction, and transplanted after rooting and germination; old branch cuttings are mostly carried out in the growing season from September to November.
