The content of lawn construction is to complete the lawn opening and planting process according to the established design. In this construction process, we should do a good job of land consolidation. While preparing the soil, we should apply base fertilizer and pest control pesticides, level the land and arrange drainage and irrigation facilities. There are four planting methods: sowing method, planting method, grass spreading block and grass spreading roll. Seed selection and seed treatment should be done well in sowing method, and sowing time and method should be determined; planting method should determine planting time, select grass source and dig grass for planting; grass spreading block and grass spreading roll should go through such links as selecting grass source, determining grass block, size and specification of grass roll, transportation and storage, planting, etc. Different planting methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. When planting lawn, we should choose suitable planting methods according to the actual situation, so as to produce economical and high-quality lawn.

Treatment of lawn plots

To plant lawn, the site must be tidied up according to the design elevation in advance. The main operation contents include digging (planing) loose land, leveling, fertilizing, etc., and changing soil if necessary. For turf with special requirements, such as playground turf, groundwater drainage facilities should also be set up. 80% of the roots of lawn plants are distributed in the soil layer above 40cm, and more than 50% are in the range of 20cm below the ground. Although some lawn plants can tolerate drought and barren, they are easy to cause poor growth when planted in 15cm thick soil layer, so management should be strengthened. In order to maintain good quality and reduce management costs, the soil layer thickness should be as thick as possible to about 40cm, and the soil layer should be thickened in places less than 30cm. For soil containing impurities such as masonry, although it does not have much impact on the growth of lawn plants, it hinders management operations. The impurities should be picked out. If necessary, all topsoil 30~40cm thick should be sieved. If the soil contains lime and other substances harmful to the growth of lawn plants, all the 40cm thick topsoil should be removed and replaced with sandy loam to facilitate the growth and development of lawn plants.

In order to improve soil fertility, it is best to apply some high-quality organic fertilizer as base fertilizer. 40~50t/hm2 of farm manure or 15~20t/hm2 of hemp residue were applied. If phosphorus fertilizer is needed, calcium superphosphate 150~200kg/hm2 can be applied. No matter what kind of fertilizer is applied, it should be crushed and mixed evenly with the soil, and then turned into the soil. However, do not apply horse manure, because it contains a lot of weed seeds, which will cause weeds to sprout in the lawn later. In order to control underground pests and protect lawn tillers, appropriate pesticides should be applied at the same time of fertilization. Spread evenly, avoid powder into blocks and affect the survival of lawn plants.

After completing the above work, level the ground according to the design elevation, and pay attention to maintaining a certain drainage slope (generally adopt a slope of 0.3~0.5 degrees). There must be no potholes in the site to avoid ponding. Finally, gently roll it once with a roller. Stadium lawn has higher requirements for drainage. In addition to surface drainage (slope generally 0.5~0.7°), underground drainage system should be set up. The quality of soil preparation is one of the keys to success or failure of lawn establishment, which must be treated seriously.

Layout of drainage and irrigation systems

Lawn and other sites, need to consider the removal of ground water, so in the final leveling of the ground, to consider the ground drainage problem, there can be no low depression, in order to avoid ponding. Lawn multi-use gentle slope to drain, in a certain area built a gentle slope ditch, the lowest end can be set up to receive the surface water discharged, and discharged through underground pipes, or directly connected to the lake pool by ditch. The ideal flat lawn surface should be slightly higher in the middle and gradually inclined to the periphery or edge. Lawn with too flat terrain or turf with too high groundwater level or excessive water accumulation, lawn of sports ground, etc. should be equipped with hidden pipes or open ditches for drainage. The most perfect drainage facilities are connected with free water surface or drainage pipe network by hidden pipes. Lawn irrigation system is an important item in lawn cultivation. At present, most lawns at home and abroad adopt sprinkler irrigation method. Therefore, sprinkler irrigation pipe network should be buried completely before the final leveling of the field.

Well, now that we have completed the preliminary preparations for lawn planting, let's take a look at the specific lawn planting technology!
