It was Wu Yingkun from Dujiangyan who found Qionglai, who has been raising orchids for many years and is very active among the older generation of orchid friends in Dujiangyan. In March 1990, Wu Yingkun picked a grass from the mountain with wide leaves, jade flowers, peach red blocks and cat ears. After getting this grass, Wu Yingkun carefully rejuvenated it and made it blossom for two consecutive years, and the flowers were also very stable. In 1992, he sent the potted flower to Chengdu to participate in the National Orchid Exhibition and won the gold medal. At that time, it was called "White Butterfly" and the variety was classified as "Xishan Spring Sword". This is different from the current classification, and there are many reasons. From the spring sword of Xishan at that time to the lotus petal orchid today, this is not the only case. This also proves that it is very necessary to establish a set of perfect orchid variety description system. After winning the gold medal, Sichuan Fine Arts Publishing House is going to produce the Atlas of Sichuan Spring Sword. The publishing house has a staff member surnamed Chen who loves orchids. After seeing the picture, he felt that the name "White Butterfly" was not appropriate, so he chose the meaning of "Qionglai Mountains, shaped like beautiful jade" and named the flower "Qionglai". "Yan" originally refers to a round jade with a gap, while "Yan" and "lack" rhyme, which may be a method of phonological training. Look at the petal pattern, the petal angle is turned out, and the front seems to have a small gap, which is in line with the explanation of "petal". Such a unique variety has naturally attracted the attention of many people. Just after the Chengdu Orchid Show, South Korean Lanyou wanted to get the flower, but Wu Yingkun did not sell it. In 1994, Qionglai Lanyou finally got some varieties after many negotiations. After that, some Lanyou in Dayi and Chongzhou got some seedlings from Wu Yingkun. At present, Qionglai is mainly concentrated in Dujiangyan, Qionglai and other counties and cities around Chengdu, with a quantity of less than 1000 seedlings.
