Last Updated: 2024/09/19, It is an excellent potted foliage plant. From the outside, it has long oval or oval green leaves with irregular milky yellow spots. From a distance, it looks like a duck's paw. Because of its sexual preference for warm and humid climate, it is widely distributed in the Nanyang Islands, and later introduced into China, and found many breeding methods. Let's see how it propagates.

1. Common cutting method

Cuttings are generally carried out in spring. First, one-year-old branches are cut from the top of the plant with a length of eight to ten centimeters, and then the lower leaves are cut off to prevent their transpiration from losing water, and they are planted on the bed soil made of river sand. control the temperature at about 25 degrees Celsius, maintain a moist environment, and take root in about four to six weeks.

2. Sowing method

The best time for this method is in spring, where the selected soil should have moisture. After the seeds are put in, they are covered with a thin layer of soil. When the temperature is 20 to 25 degrees Celsius, the seedlings will emerge after about two to three weeks. When the seedlings grow to a height of five to seven centimeters, they will be transplanted once and will be planted again the following year.

3. All-light fog insertion

First, spread the tiled and sterilized river sand into the cutting pond in sequence, then select the eight centimeter-long twigs that grew in that year, cut off the lower leaves, and dip the roots with rooting powder for about 20 minutes. Secondly, it is best to insert the branches into the pool sand in the afternoon. Spray from 8 to 17:00 every day for the first two weeks, with an interval of three minutes; the interval between three or four weeks is changed to seven or eight minutes. After five weeks, the interval is about ten minutes, and the roots and seedlings can be planted separately after they grow strong.

4. High branch striping method

From the end of April to June, select two-year-old branches, peel around the ring, about one centimeter wide, so deep that you can see the green cambium, wrap the wound with wet moss or cooked dung, and finally wrap the upper and lower ends with plastic bags to take root after about 40 days. this method has a high survival rate and is helpful for plant pruning in the future.
