Xifu Begonia is an endemic plant in China, also known as Haihong, daughter begonia, small fruit begonia and so on. It is a small tree plant belonging to the apple genus of Rosaceae. It is named because it grows in Xifu (now Baoji City, Shaanxi Province). It is a famous flower appreciated by both elegant and popular people since ancient times, known as immortal flowers, flower imperial concubines, and national beauty. Let's take a look at the breeding methods of Xifu Begonia.

Growth habits of Tripterygium

Xifu Begonia is produced in Liaoning, Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong, Shaanxi, Gansu, Yunnan and other places, sexual light, cold resistance, more resistant to drought, but afraid of waterlogging. It is not strict with the soil, but it is most suitable for growing in fertile, loose and well-drained sandy soil. The comprehensive management of watering, fertilization and pruning should be combined in the process of growth.

The Propagation method of Begonia Xifu

1. Grafting: Western begonia is grafted with buds and branches, and the rootstocks are mostly used as seedlings of the same genus. The bud grafting of begonia should be carried out in August and the branch grafting should be carried out in spring.

2. Ramet: the ramet of Malus sinensis is suitable in early spring in March, before sprouting, young seedlings will sprout around the old begonia, and the seedlings will be cut off from the mother plant with roots.

3. Burying the roots: from February to March in early spring, the root of the adult begonia will grow about 15 centimeters, put it flat and bury it in the soil, cover it with 7 centimeters of soil, pour it thoroughly, and often keep the soil moist afterwards.

The Culture method of Begonia in Xifu

1. Planting: Begonia is generally planted in many rows, and it is appropriate to plant it before sprouting in early spring or after defoliation in early winter. Keeping the intact root system of the seedling when coming out of the nursery is the key to survival. Generally speaking, big seedlings should bring soil rope, and small seedlings should stay in the lodging soil according to the situation. After the seedlings are planted, the tending and management should be strengthened and the seedlings should be kept loose and fertile.

2. Watering: Xifu crabapple needs more watering in spring and summer, timely and adequate watering in hot summer, such as lack of water, leaf edge is easy to scorch, watering is gradually reduced after cool autumn, and less watering after defoliation in winter to prevent rotting roots. However, because the western begonia is a deciduous tree species, it is not suitable to spray too much water on the branches and leaves.

3. Fertilization: Xifu begonia likes fertilizer, which can be applied more appropriately, and attention should be paid to the combined use of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. If nitrogen fertilizer is used too much, it is easy to cause the phenomenon of luxuriant branches and leaves and sparse flowering. After flowering in spring, nitrogen fertilizer is mainly applied to promote the growth of branches and leaves. More phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are applied in summer and autumn to facilitate flower bud differentiation and ensure flowers blooming and colorful. Fertilizer can be used as cake fertilizer, human feces and urine, bone meal, chicken dung, fishy water and so on.

4. Pruning: Western begonia has strong germination and fast growth, so we should pay attention to the shaping and pruning of Xifu crabapple. After falling leaves in winter to before sprouting in spring, disorderly branches such as withered branches, disease and insect branches, thin and weak branches, crossed branches, overlapping branches and over-dense branches can be cut off. After blooming in spring, we can truncate the overlong branches appropriately according to the modeling needs, promote the division of lateral branches, increase the number of flower buds, and ensure that there are many flowers in the coming year. In addition, after sprouting in spring, too many bud heads that are too dense and poorly positioned can be erased.

5. Diseases and pests: Xifu begonia should pay attention to the control of beetles, leaf rollers, aphids, pocket moths, red spiders and other pests, as well as rot, red star disease and so on. Prevention and treatment can remove diseased trees, burn diseased branches, reduce the source of germs, spray stone-sulfur mixture in early spring or brush the tree trunk with lime. At the beginning of the disease, it can be cut into knife marks of about 0.5 cm in vertical and horizontal directions, reaching to the xylem, and then spraying fungicides.
