Growth habits of Fotou Jade

Fotou jade in southern Africa, distributed in South Africa, Namibia and other places, should be warm, dry and sunny environment, require good ventilation, slightly resistant to semi-shade, drought resistance, avoid soil too wet. It is not cold-resistant and afraid of extreme heat. It grows well in warm winters and cool summers.

Propagation methods of Fotou Jade

The reproduction of Buddha head jade can cut off the side young plants for cutting. if there are no young plants, the upper part of the plant can be cut off, dry for 5-7 days, cut in coarse sand or vermiculite, and the lower part is still left in the original soil. before long, many small plants will sprout, and when they grow a little bigger, they will be removed for cutting. The grouped plants can also be divided in combination with changing pots. If the seeds can be collected, they can also be propagated by sowing.

The Culture method of Fotou Jade

1. Illumination: Fotou jade is the growing period of the plant from March to May and from September to November, giving sufficient and stable light, and often turning the flowerpot, so that every part of the plant can get uniform sunlight to prevent the fleshy stem from growing crooked. If the light is strong and sometimes weak, it will make the plant uneven and affect the ornamental.

2. Watering: Fotou jade is watered "dry and thoroughly", pay attention to prevent rain, and apply mature thin liquid fertilizer or compound fertilizer once a month.

3. Change the basin: Fotou jade changes the basin once a year in spring or autumn. The basin soil is required to be loose and fertile, contains an appropriate amount of lime and has good drainage. It can be mixed with 3 parts of rotten leaf soil, 1 part of garden soil, 3 parts of coarse sand or vermiculite, and mixed with a small amount of bone powder.

4. Summer: the plant of Fotou jade is dormant or semi-dormant in summer high temperature. although the fleshy stem no longer grows, there are flowers blooming one after another, which can be moved to bright light and no direct sunlight, and can be watered a little, but should not be excessive. Strengthen ventilation to prevent plant rot caused by muggy heat and humidity.

5. Winter: Fotou jade plants are also dormant when it is cold in winter. Sufficient sunlight is required, watering should be strictly controlled, and the temperature should not be lower than 10 ℃.
