Aloe vera is a new star of edible, medicinal, cosmetic and ornamental plants, also known as Luhui, Nehui, elephant gallbladder, etc., is a perennial evergreen herb of the Liliaceae, originating in the Mediterranean and Africa, with clusters of leaves, large and thick, seated or born at the top of the stem, easy to grow, quite popular with the public, let's take a look at the cultivation methods of hydroponic aloe!

Plant selection

Hydroponic aloe is the best choice of small aloe, so it will be easily shaped in the vase. The hydroponic plant with root system is cut from the root of the mother plant of aloe in the pot, and the small plant can be dug out as a whole, and the diseased leaves and rotten leaves are removed, leaving only intact and healthy aloe.

Root cleaning

Hydroponic culture must wash and disinfect the roots of the plant in order to ensure the success of hydroponic culture. Soak in water for 15 minutes and wash gently for several times until there is no soil at the root and no sediment in the water. After cleaning, soak in 0.1% potassium permanganate solution (it is generally seen that the preparation solution is light purplish red) for 15 minutes, then rinse with clean water.

Planting method

Hydroponic aloe in order to facilitate planting, you can add some hydroponic matrix, small stones and so on in the bottle, so as to fix the root system of aloe. When placing aloe in a vase, spread the roots smoothly. Be careful not to immerse the whole plant in water. If you are afraid of rotting roots, you can touch the root of aloe slightly to the surface of the water, and the leaves can not touch the water.

Maintenance and management

1. After planting, you can put the hydroponic aloe in a cool and ventilated place, not to be directly exposed to the sun. For rapid root growth, cover the lower half of the vase with a black cloth.

2. After aloe grew into hydroponic root and adapted to hydroponic environment, the hydroponic container was moved to a place with bright light, and the nutrient solution of foliage flowers was used for long-term culture. the hydroponic nutrient solution was changed once every 15 to 30 days.

3. Aloe has a short dormant period in summer. During the dormant period, the culture container should be moved from bright light to semi-shaded and ventilated place.

4. The culture container should be placed in the sunny place indoors in winter, and the room temperature above 5 ℃ can safely survive the winter. if the aloe plant is to blossom, the room temperature should be above 10 ℃ in winter.

Matters needing attention

1. Cultivated plants in the family often pour tea water and rice soup into flowerpots, but don't do so when hydroponic. Aloe hydroponics with clear water is better, usually pay attention to change water, change every 2-3 days, remove rotten roots and clean containers in time to ensure that there is no smell in the water.

2. Aloe is a foliage plant, and it also has certain requirements for fertilizer. After aloe hydroponics grows new roots for a month, it can be cultivated with foliage plant nutrient solution for a long time. Depending on the specific situation, the nutrient solution can be changed from half a month to once a month.
