Wisteria is cultivated as a garden scaffolding plant in our country since ancient times, the first leaf blossoms, purple ear is full of sparse tender leaves, very beautiful, generally used in garden scaffolding, spring purple flowers are in full bloom, unique interest, suitable for planting in lakeside, pool, rockery, Shifang and other places, with a unique style, bonsai is also commonly used, let's take a look at the cultivation methods of wisteria!

Growth habits of wisteria

Wisteria is a warm and temperate plant with strong adaptability to climate and soil, cold tolerance, water and moisture tolerance and barren soil, light preference and shade tolerance. The place with deep soil layer, good drainage and sunny shelter from the wind is the most suitable for cultivation. The main root is deep, the lateral root is shallow, and it is not resistant to transplanting. It grows fast and lives for a long time. It has strong winding ability and has strangling effect on other plants. In Guangdong, the temperature can adapt to wisteria all the year round. When overwintering, it should be placed at a low temperature of about 0 ℃ to keep the basin soil slightly wet and make the plant fully dormant.

Propagation methods of wisteria

1. Cuttage: hardwood cuttings are generally used. 1-2-year-old sturdy branches are selected before sprouting in mid-late March, cut into cuttings about 15 cm long, and inserted into a pre-prepared seedbed with a cutting depth of 2 / 3 of the length of cuttings. Spray water after insertion, strengthen maintenance, keep the seedbed moist, the survival rate is very high, the plant height can reach 20-50 cm in that year, and can come out of the nursery two years later.

2. Sowing: wisteria is sown and propagated in March, seeds are harvested in November, pods are removed, dried and bagged for storage. Soak the seeds in hot water before sowing. When the temperature of boiling water drops to about 30 ℃, fish out the seeds and rinse them in cold water for a while, then keep them moisturized for a day and night before sowing. Or store the seeds in wet sand and soak them in clean water for 1-2 days before sowing.

Culture methods of wisteria

1. Soil: wisteria is resistant to barren, but fertile soil is more favorable for growth and has strong adaptability to soil acidity and alkalinity. High dry places with deep soil layer, fertile soil and good drainage should be selected.

2. Lighting: wisteria likes sunlight and is slightly resistant to shade. in order to give birth well, scaffolding is generally set up for breeding, but there are also smaller species that can be used as potted plants or bonsai.

3. Temperature: wisteria has strong adaptability, can withstand the extreme heat in summer and cold, and is farmed from south to north in our country, so it can meet the needs of wisteria growth in Guangdong all the year round.

4. Watering: the main root of wisteria is very deep, so it has strong drought tolerance, but it likes moist soil, but it can't soak the root in water, otherwise it will rot.

5. Fertilization: wisteria flowers can basically meet their needs by applying compound fertilizer 2 or 3 times a year, nitrogen fertilizer and calcium superphosphate can be applied before germination, topdressing 2 or 3 times during growth period, and rotten human feces can be used.

6. Pruning: the pruning time of wisteria flowers should be in the dormant period. During pruning, the branches can be evenly distributed by densification and artificial traction, and the branches should be pruned reasonably according to their jumping habits.
