Why does the radish "shrink the water"?

Last Updated: 2024/11/06, After months of running around, the Wang Min Land Co-operative of Chongzhou City, Sichuan Province, stepping on the tail of Dachun production, drove the rotary tiller directly into the field where the radish stalk was more than one person, and crushed the radish back to the field on the spot. It's too late to harvest, and then it will be late in spring.

After months of running around, the Wang Min Land Co-operative of Chongzhou City, Sichuan Province, stepping on the tail of Dachun production, drove the rotary tiller directly into the field where the radish stalk was more than one person, and crushed the radish back to the field on the spot. "it's too late to harvest, and there will be a lot of losses in the late spring." Wang Min, president of the cooperative, sighed helplessly.

The big white radish, which should have been harvested a long time ago, why can only be allowed to rot in the ground? This involves a dispute over true and fake radish seeds involving more than 300 farmers and losing millions of yuan.

The difference in size of radish is nearly double that of the same variety as the trial variety.

Wang Min, a 27-year-old native of Chongzhou, joined Yang Guangjun in Dunhou Community, Xilai Town, Pujiang County, five years ago. Every year, Xiaochun rented a season of radish in nearby Pujiang and Jianyang, and the scale gradually increased from dozens of mu to hundreds of mu. Last year, under the persuasion of the government leaders of Jixie Township, Chongzhou City, several large radish growers, such as Wang Min and Yang Guangjun, took the lead in setting up the "Chongzhou Economic Association Wang Min Land Stock Co-operative" to guide villagers to buy shares in the land, attracting more than 320 farmers to participate in that year, covering an area of more than 420 mu.

After the big spring harvest in 2014, the cooperative council met to discuss Xiaochun production, and everyone agreed to plant the "disease-resistant Dr. Chunguang A" radish produced by Beijing Baimutian Seedling Co., Ltd. Wang Min told the reporter that he heard that he had been recommended by acquaintances for trial planting of more than 40 mu last year. Although the seed price is much higher than the general varieties in the market, he is very satisfied with the planting. "the radish is long and white, and the commodity is very good. The yield per mu has reached about 20,000 jin, and the selling price is also high." Wang Min said.

Since there were no dealers in Chengdu to sell this kind of radish variety, Yang Guangjun, a shareholder of the cooperative, made a special trip to Tongnan County, Chongqing, to buy back 800 cans of seeds from dealer Wang Yuanhua at a price of 80 yuan per can. In addition, Yang Guangbing of Pujiang Guangbing Professional Cooperative also bought 200 cans of seeds after listening to the introduction of his brother Yang Guangjun.

"the variety name and packaging of the seeds are the same as those of the radish seeds planted before, and they are purchased from qualified dealers, with formal invoices in their hands. I think they can't be wrong." Wang Min recalled that more than 300 mu were planted from September to October 2014.

According to the experience of previous trial planting and the marking of canned seeds, radish takes only 55 and 60 days from sowing to harvest. But when it came to the harvest season, Wang Min found that he was not big enough. He could not wait for another week, and for another month, he still could not grow.

At the same time, Yang Guangbing also found that the "disease-resistant Dr. Chunguang A" radish was very short in Tonglu Village, Qionglai City, Sichuan Province. In sharp contrast, in Huang Jianyun's field, which is 300 meters away (Huang Jianyun is a native of Shouan Town in Pujiang and grows turnips in Longli Village, Mouli Town, Qionglai), the same "disease-resistant Doctor Chunguang A" sells extremely well, generally more than 30 centimeters in length, but only more than 10 centimeters in his own land.

What on earth is going on? In order to find out the reason, Wang Min and Yang Guangjun discussed and planted more than 60 mu of the remaining seeds a year ago and carefully managed them, but the result was still the same.

It is difficult to negotiate the difference between products and sell radish rotten land.

"in recent years, the market has favored long-shaped radishes, which are less than 30 centimeters in length and basically no one buys them." Wang Min told reporters that he called his old customers in Guangzhou and Beijing one by one and begged them to try. Guangzhou customers helped to pull two carts, but the first car was not even sold for freight, and the second truck stevedores could not afford to pay a salary of 7,000 or 8,000 yuan.

The seeds that had been planted with good results the year before, why have they changed this year? "is there something wrong with the seed?" Wang Min asked the Chongzhou Agricultural Bureau for help and contacted Wang Yuanhua, a seed dealer.

The local agricultural bureau and the police station presided over many mediation consultations, but none of them went smoothly. Dealer Wang Yuanhua insists that there is no problem with the seeds and that the shortness of radish is caused by improper planting and over-close planting in cooperatives. In the process of mediation investigation, the seed manufacturer Beijing Baimutian Seedling Company came twice, but also insisted that the quality of "disease-resistant Dr. Chunguang A" radish was qualified.

"I thought that selling these unsalable radishes to kimchi factories at a low price would somehow recover some of the losses, but the dealers did not recognize the area of the land that had been harvested, so they dared not deal with it in order to preserve the evidence." Wang Min told reporters.

Over the past few months, the branches and leaves of the radish have grown to more than one person's height, and the radish in the field has rotted. "based on current market prices, it is conservatively estimated that the profit of the co-operative will amount to one million yuan." Wang Min told reporters that before and after the Spring Festival, the radish market is booming, and a jin can be sold for more than one piece. "I finally ran into a bull market. I thought I could give members a big red envelope, but as a result, more than 400,000 yuan of seed, land rent, fertilizer and other costs were wasted, and up to now I can't even afford to pay wages." Wang Min was very annoyed when she thought of it.
