Lavender, also known as perfume plant, its elegant and dreamy appearance, full-bodied fragrance of flowers, lavender or romantic and beautiful symbol of love, deeply loved by people. In recent years, it has become widely cultivated by many flower lovers, so how should we cultivate it? Let's take a look at the cultivation techniques of lavender.

Growth habit

The sex likes the sunny environment, for the light demand is long, the annual light time is required to be more than 2000 hours, if planted in the dark and humid environment, the plant will grow badly and aging quickly; like drying, there is not much demand for water; strong adaptability to the environment, high temperature tolerance, cold tolerance, autumn can withstand about 40 degrees high temperature, adult plants can survive in the open air at minus 21 degrees in winter, and young plants can withstand minus 10 degrees in winter. Should be deep, fertile, loose, well-drained neutral soil, acidic, alkaline, viscous, poorly drained low-lying soil is not suitable for cultivation.

Reproduction method

Sowing and reproduction: sowing and reproduction is fast, the seedlings are also stronger, the root system is more developed, but the variation is large and the seed price is high. Select the seeds with uniform size, full particles and glossy epidermis, soak the seeds in warm water for one day, soak the seeds in sulfuric acid for 5 minutes, wash them with water and sow them. Generally sowing in spring April, keep the temperature at 20-25 degrees, about a week can be germinated, a month later can be set.

Cutting propagation: cutting propagation can not only adapt to the environment, but also inherit the good quality of the mother plant, which can be carried out in both spring and autumn. Cut off the terminal buds of vigorous, healthy and disease-free plants or branches without woody flowers, soak them with rooting agents and cut them directly into the soil. Month 15-20 days or so can take root and sprout, the cutting process to keep the soil moist, branches do not wrinkle, not withered leaves, so that the survival rate is high.

Cultivation techniques

1. Pruning: after planting, lavender grows slowly, warms up gradually with the temperature rising, and begins to enter the respring period. At this time, we have to prune manually to cut off the top branches, which can accelerate root growth and promote branching.

2. Florescence management: lavender begins to bud in May and blossoms in June. In order to reduce the supply of nutrients and promote the growth and development of branches, we can get rid of all the buds in early June.

3. Watering: although lavender likes dry environment and has little demand for water, in newly planted plants, sufficient water should be ensured in the first three years to promote rapid plant growth, with emphasis on watering at bud stage and flowering stage.

4. Overwintering: lavender is extremely hardy. But when it is just planted, it still needs manual help. Before overwintering, it is necessary to bury the soil artificially and cut off the top of the branch. Bury the 15cm around to ensure that the base is not frozen, and remove the covered soil in time next spring to prevent branches and leaves from rotting.

The above introduction of lavender cultivation techniques, I hope to help you, the editor reminds you that in the process of home cultivation, the survival rate of seed reproduction is relatively low and is not recommended.
