Campanula is an annual or perennial herb, which gets its name when it blossoms like a bell or bell. It has many varieties and rich colors, so it is of great ornamental value whether it is the most potted plant or garden cultivation, so how should we cultivate it as a potted plant? Let's take a look at it next.

Growth habit

Bluebells are temperate plants, like the environment with sufficient light, and have strict requirements on temperature. the optimum temperature for growth is 13-18 degrees, and the suitable temperature for germination is about 20 degrees. Not resistant to high temperature, cool climate in summer, poor growth of plants above 28 degrees in summer, plants begin to wither, leaves yellowing off; not resistant to cold, mild climate in winter, less than 2 degrees will stop growing, stems and leaves begin to yellowing; prefer dry environment, drought tolerance, waterlogging, long-term rainy days or too much water in basin soil will lead to slender plants and smaller flowers. The sandy acid soil with loose air permeability and good drainage is suitable for lax soil.

Reproduction method

The main method of reproduction is sowing and reproduction. it takes six months from sowing to flowering, and the sowing time can be selected according to the flowering time. The seeds of bluebell are relatively small. Soak the seeds for about 12 hours before sowing, and then sow the seeds and sandy soil at the proportion of 1:5. The seeding bed should have sufficient light and good drainage, disinfect the soil before sowing, sprinkle the seeds evenly on the seedbed after pouring water through the soil, keep the seedbed slightly damp, do not get too wet, control the temperature at 20-24 degrees, and the seedlings can emerge after half a month.

Potted plant management

The seedlings can be transplanted into the pot when they grow 5-6 leaves, and the time of going to the pot is not strong sunlight but sufficient light. Immediately after potting, the seedlings should be fully watered to make the seedlings fully contact with the soil matrix.

Lighting: bluebells like light, grow neatly in a sufficient light environment, flowers bloom brightly, and bloom naturally for up to 14 hours a day. If there is not enough light, the plants will grow and the flowers will bloom dim.

Temperature: sensitive to temperature requirements, no more than 30 degrees in summer and no less than 0 degrees in winter.

Watering: watering should see dry and wet, watering thoroughly, but do not water too much basin soil, watering according to seasonal changes, high temperature in summer, large evaporation, watering frequently, low temperature in winter, watering little or no watering.

Fertilization: moderate demand for fertility, mainly in the growing season, bud stage and flowering stage, summer and winter should stop fertilization.

Pruning: after potting, the growth is messy at the beginning, and it will grow neatly in the later stage. If you want to control the plant growth height and increase the number of flowers, coring can be carried out at the seedling height of 6-8cm.
