Crape myrtle is a kind of flower with a long history in China, and there are many varieties so far. Crape myrtle is now widely distributed in China. Crape myrtle has a smooth and beautiful trunk, a long flowering period and a high ornamental value. And the flower, leaf and root all have certain medicinal value. So how to breed when planting crape myrtle? The following editor brings you the breeding method of crape myrtle, let's have a look!

1. Sowing and reproduction

Crape myrtle sowing time is generally in the spring, first of all to prepare the seedbed, with strong permeability, soft and fertile sandy soil. After controlling the sowing density, it is necessary to cover the fine soil to prevent the seeds from being exposed, and change and germinate in about 11 days under normal management. When the seedlings grow two true leaves, do the seedling work in cloudy and rainy days to provide sufficient growth work for the seedlings. In the seedling stage, it is necessary to do a good job in weeding and weeding, concentrate nutrition and improve field permeability. In the growing period to do a good job in water and fertilizer management, water should not be too much, just keep the soil moist. When the seedlings grow to about 60 cm, prune them in winter and transplant them in spring the following year.

2. Cuttage propagation

The cuttage propagation of crape myrtle can be divided into softwood cuttings and hardwood cuttings. Softwood cuttings are generally around July every year, when the growth ability of new branches is strong and the survival rate is high. First of all, select the branches that are not completely Lignified, then cut them into segments of about 9 cm, retain about 3 leaves, then insert them into the matrix, and then pour enough water, cover the soil and cover the film, and do a good shade management. Usually 2-3 weeks can take root, after rooting, remove the film, do a good job of watering. Hardwood cuttings should be carried out around March, select sturdy, disease-and pest-free annual branches, cut them into branches of about 12 cm, and do the same management as twigs.

3. Striping propagation

There is no time limit for striping reproduction, which can usually be carried out throughout the growing period of crape myrtle, but the best time to do so is around March. If you are using air striping, you should first choose the robust branches that grow within two years. Then peel the branch around 2 cm, when the branch is exposed to the xylem, and apply rooting powder to the wound after ring peeling. When the powder leaves are dried, a layer of wet soil is wrapped around the ring, and the ends are fastened with plastic film to prevent air leakage. Then it should be checked frequently within a month, when the branch is cut off from the base after taking root, it becomes an independent plant, and then it can be planted at the right time.

The above is a brief introduction to the breeding methods of crape myrtle, mainly grafting propagation, which is more troublesome to implement, so it is generally not suitable for large-scale production. When we breed, we should use the breeding method reasonably according to their own planting area, not blindly, to avoid time-consuming, laborious and thankless. That's all for today's introduction.
