Buttercup is a perennial herb of Ranunculaceae. Its leaves are similar to those of celery, so it is also called celery flower. Native to Asia and Europe, the ornamental value of buttercup is very high. It can not only be used for potted plants, but also can decorate flower beds, lawns and so on. Its planting area is expanding, so how do we breed when we plant buttercups? The following editor has brought you the breeding method of buttercup, let's have a look!

1. Ramet propagation

Select ramet: ramet propagation is mainly used in family pot culture, usually in Jining in September every year. After digging up the root in the soil, clean up the soil above, and then break it apart along the growth direction of the root, and each separate part should keep a section of rhizome and new buds. Do a good job of disinfection, and in order to ensure the emergence rate of buttercup, we should also do a good job of sprouting after sterilization. Put the root into the wet sand to keep the surrounding environment cool and ventilated, mainly burying the bud, but not burying sand in the rest.

Post-planting management: regular watering after planting to ensure that the sand is moist and avoid stagnant water, otherwise it will affect the rooting of root tubers. Under normal management, it will germinate in about 3 weeks, then control the depth and timely planting, should not be too deep and too shallow, planting too deep will reduce the number of leaves of buttercup. And if it is too shallow, it is not conducive to root. Before emergence of seedlings after planting, we should pay attention to the watering of water and keep the soil moist. After the seedlings are fully complete, the amount of water can be appropriately increased to promote the growth of the seedlings.

2. Sowing and reproduction

Seed retention and seed collection: in order to ensure the quality of seeds, we should decide to collect seed mother plants according to the planting purpose, and mark each mother plant. After flowering, it is necessary to artificially pollinate properly. When the male flower pollen spreads, dip it on the pollen with a brush and apply it to the stigma of the female flower. When the petals fall off and bear fruit, the excess flowers should be removed and nutrients should be concentrated on the seeds. And to do a good job of management to ensure the healthy growth of seeds. When the seeds mature gradually around June each year, the fruit is picked, the seeds are taken out, and stored in a ventilated and dry place for sowing.

Sprouting and sowing: buttercups are usually sown every autumn, when the temperature drops to 20 degrees Celsius. The suitable temperature for seed germination should be kept at about 12-14 degrees, and it can germinate in about 3 weeks. Sowing time should not be too early and too late. If it is too early, the temperature will be slightly higher and the germination time will be delayed. If the seeds are sown too late, the overwintering nutrition of the seeds is insufficient, and the flowering rate is low in the spring of the following year. Therefore, in order to ensure the germination rate of the seeds, we should do a good job of accelerating germination, wrap the seeds with gauze, soak them in cold water for a day or so, then put them at a temperature of about 9 degrees Celsius, take them out twice a day for freshness and keep the seeds moist. About 10 days, most of the seeds can be sown after whitening.

The above is a brief introduction to the breeding methods of Ranunculus, the reproduction of Ranunculus is relatively simple, because the growth ability of Ranunculus is relatively strong, its seed root germination rate is also relatively high. But just in case, no matter what the breeding method is, you should do a good job of sprouting before planting to ensure your own planting efficiency. That's all for today's introduction.
