Crape myrtle, also known as itching flower, purple golden flower and so on, is a very traditional ornamental flower in China. Crape myrtle has a beautiful shape, a smooth and straight trunk and a very long flowering period. Now there are more and more flower growers growing crape myrtle in our country, and the market of crape myrtle is getting bigger and bigger. Many flower growers will expand their production through cutting propagation when planting, so how to do it specifically? Next, the editor will introduce the cuttage propagation technology of crape myrtle.

1. Select nursery

Before cutting, we should first select the cutting nursery and choose the fertile sandy soil with thick, soft leeward and sufficient light. Then according to the number of cuttings to control the area of the nursery, to keep about 50 cm of the roadway in the nursery to facilitate planting management. Then disinfect the soil and sprinkle ferrous sulfate comprehensively and evenly on the nursery a week before cutting. Or in the first three days or so, spray about 4 cm of bed soil with diluted formalin, and then cover the film to prevent the chemical from evaporating. After about 7 days, the film can be removed and wait for cutting.

2. Treatment of cuttings

Choose sturdy Lignification branches that grow sturdy, disease-free and wound-free every winter, and cut them to about 13 centimeters. Then choose the shady place with high terrain and normal drainage and irrigation to dig ditches, keeping the depth at about 70 centimeters. Cover the bottom with a layer of wet sand, tie up the cuttings and put them in the ditch. Then fill and compact the ditch with wet soil, pile it into a mound, and insert branches in the middle to promote ventilation. Then the cuttings are dug out in spring for cuttage, and twigs can also be used for cuttings in summer. The treatment method is similar to that of cuttings in spring.

3. Timely cutting

In order to improve the rooting rate of cuttings, we should put the cuttings into running water a week before cutting. if there is no running water, we should change the water regularly every day. Or soaking in sucrose solution for about 1 day can effectively improve the rooting rate. Then do a good job of soil preparation to ensure that the soil is soft and moisture is sufficient, open the cuttage hole, insert the cuttings into the cuttage hole, compact the soil, and then cuttage. The cutting depth is kept at about 10 cm, and enough water is poured after cutting, the aboveground part of the cuttings is exposed about 1pm 3, and the plant spacing is controlled at about 10cm*14cm.

4. Plug-in management

After all the cuttings are successful, cover the seedbed with plastic film, then compact and seal the surrounding area with soil, and do a good shading measure. Usually, the cuttings can take root after about 20 days, and the film can be removed in batches after rooting. After cutting to keep the soil moist, in the seedling stage of watering, do not flood irrigation, small water can infiltrate the soil, usually once every 4 days. Then, after a month or so, nitrogen fertilizer should be applied properly, and the fertilizer should be controlled according to the growth of seedlings. Then do a good job of loosening soil and weeding, and control the depth of loosening soil according to the size of seedlings to avoid harming the roots of seedlings and affecting the growth of crape myrtle.

The above is a brief introduction of crape myrtle cutting propagation methods, no matter what breeding methods, when raising seedlings, we should pay attention to the prevention and control of diseases and insect pests. Different preventive measures should be taken according to different diseases and insect pests to enhance the disease resistance of crape myrtle, reduce the incidence and avoid some unnecessary losses. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it can help you all.
