This year, the yield of rape per mu in the core demonstration area increased by 19.2% compared with the traditional high yield level, with a net income of 950 yuan per mu. The annual average benefit of rape-corn rotation in the core demonstration area reached 1478 yuan per mu, realizing the goal of "abundant grain and oil, green and high efficiency".

Rape is mainly produced in winter fallow fields and does not compete for land with rice, corn and other food crops. The rotation of rape and grain crops can significantly increase soil organic matter, release phosphorus elements in soil, fumigate and kill soil-borne pathogenic microorganisms, reduce the harm of diseases and insect pests, and promote the green development of both grain and oil. In recent years, rapeseed-maize rotation has developed rapidly in the Yangtze River basin, but the production efficiency and benefit are low due to few excellent varieties, low level of mechanization, weak disaster resistance and lack of integrated technical support. According to the integrated mode of green technology for increasing production and efficiency of the Ministry of Agriculture and the arrangement and deployment of the scientific and technological innovation project of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Oil Institute has established a demonstration base with a total area of 5000 mu and a core demonstration area of 1920 mu in Xiangbei Farm in Xiangyang, Hubei Province, with a total area of 5000 mu, agricultural mechanization institute, plant protection institute, fund planning institute, Huazhong Agricultural University, Hunan Agricultural University and so on.
