The demand for potted lotus plants has been very popular in recent years. At present, many farmers have carried out planting and cultivation, and the income is still good. But many people who want to plant bowl lotus may still know too much about how to grow lotus. Let's teach you how to cultivate bowl lotus in soil culture. Whether farmers or individuals want to plant them, they can learn.

1. Seed treatment

The seed shell of bowl lotus is relatively hard, so the success rate will be relatively low if it sprouts completely by breaking its own shell, so the seeds need to be treated manually. The seeds of bowl lotus are round at one end and pointed at the other end. Generally, bowl lotus sprouts from the round end, so we need to properly deal with the epidermis of the round end. It is common to break or prick holes slightly, so that there is a gap in that end. This will not damage the bowl lotus seed itself, but also make it easier to wake up.

2. Wake up the seed

The way to soak a bowl of lotus seeds is very simple, soak in warm water, it will absorb water and then sprout slowly, the water temperature is not too low or too high, generally 10-15 ℃ on it. Its awakening time will be relatively long, generally 5-7 days or so budding, 10 days later can be planted. During the awakening period, the water should be changed frequently, and it would be better to change it every 6-8 hours. If the temperature is higher when you wake up, you can do it about twice a day.

3. Colonization

When the bud of the seed grows to about 8-10 cm, it can be planted. After the germinated seed is taken out, it does not need to be dried and can be planted directly. The planted soil does not have to be very fertile, but the upper soil must be more transparent, and finally some fine sand can be properly mixed. Secondly, the soil can not be consolidated together, otherwise the buds of lotus will grow very slowly in the early stage. Suddenly, it is best to be drenched with water in advance, because water is one of the most dependent factors for the growth of lotus.

4. Points for attention

In the early stage, the seeds of bowl lotus are relatively fragile, and their roots are very sensitive to sunlight and fertilizer, so they should bask in the sun as little as possible in the early stage, and generally do not need fertilization. When planting, the sharp part faces down, the soil should cover the whole seed, its skin is about 3-5 mm from the surface of the soil layer, and the covered soil does not need to be specially compacted. The best time to plant bowl lotus is from July to September, when the temperature will make the bowl lotus grow faster. If the soaked seed does not germinate after more than 10 days, then the seed is basically useless and can be considered for replacement.

The above is the soil cultivation method of bowl lotus, of course, it can also be hydroponic, if you are interested, you can pay attention to our later article. Farmers should not put too many seeds in each pot when planting, otherwise they are easy to cross together when they sprout, and it is best to let them move in the same direction, so that it is not easy to cross.
