Zinnia is a common flower plant in China, which is very suitable for pot culture at home. It is welcomed by many people, and zinnia is also an important traditional Chinese medicine, which has many functions. Now the planting area in our country is also very large. So how do we breed when we plant zinnia? Today, the editor brings you the breeding method of zinnia. Let's take a look at it.

First, sowing and reproduction

1. Pre-sowing treatment

Before sowing and breeding, we have to disinfect the seeds of zinnia and the planting soil. To ensure that the zinnia can grow normally in the middle and later stage. Seed disinfection can be soaked with potassium permanganate and other agents, generally soaking for about half an hour. Then the sowing medium was prepared with rotten leaf soil, river sand, peat and perlite, and the ratio was kept at 2 / 2 / 2 / 2. At the same time, potassium permanganate or formaldehyde should be used for disinfection. If sowing in the soil, then high-temperature fumigation can be carried out to kill germs and pests in the soil.

2. Sowing method

The vigor of zinnia seeds is relatively long, usually in about three years, and the germination rate can also reach 60%. However, it is best to choose full seeds within a year, which can effectively improve the seed germination rate. Seed sowing methods can be on demand or sowing mainly, after sowing need to cover a layer of fine soil, and watering. Under normal management, it can take root and sprout after a week or so. When we sow, we should adjust the sowing time according to the flowering time we expect. The time from sowing to flowering is about 80 days.

3. Management after sowing

Zinnia is a kind of photophobic plant, which should be covered with vermiculite after sowing. When the temperature is about 22 degrees, it can germinate in about 4 days. In the seed germination period, basically does not need light, the humidity of the seedling bed should be kept at about 55%, not too wet. Avoid phenomena such as rotten roots and collapse. Then the seedlings were transplanted when the seedlings had about two true leaves and the height was about 6-7cm. Finally, it should be noted that zinnia should only do a good job of shading at the seedling stage, and provide it with sufficient light in the rest of the period.

2. Cutting propagation

In addition to sowing and propagation, zinnia can also be propagated by cuttings. The time of cuttage propagation of zinnia is generally about every spring, and the cuttings are mainly lateral buds of zinnia, and the length is about 10cm. Insert the lateral buds directly into the cutting soil, and then press and fix the cuttings. Properly watering, keep the soil moist, about 10 days after cutting, lateral buds will take root. Wait until January or one and a half months or so before transplanting into the pot. However, because the uniformity of cutting seedlings is not as good as that of sowing seedlings, cutting propagation is generally not used in large-scale propagation.

The above is a brief introduction to the breeding methods of zinnia. This is the end of today's introduction, this article is for reference only, friends who want to know more relevant information, please continue to follow us!
