Four taboos for beginners to raise orchids

Last Updated: 2024/09/16, These four wrong practices do a lot of harm to orchids, but they are what beginners like to do most: use large pots, water more, fertilize heavily, and plant deeper. Together, each plant is bound to die. This idea is based on Ailan's eagerness, but it is a practice of "wrong love," which beginners must forbid. First, you will consider it as banning large pots and small plants.

These four wrong practices do a lot of harm to orchids, but they are what beginners like to do most: use large pots, water more, fertilize heavily, and plant deeper. Together, each plant is bound to die. This idea is based on Ailan's eagerness, but it is a practice of "wrong love," which beginners must forbid.

First, large pots and small plants are prohibited.

You will think that the basin is bigger, the material is more, the nutrition is more, wrong! If the basin is used too much, the plant material will be used more, and the water will be less watered. If the outside is wet, the inside is not wet, and if the water is poured too much, it can be completely wet, but the outside is dry, and the inside is not dry. You don't know, and you water it again. As a result, the inner center is moist for a long time, and the root can not stand it. And the plant material is perishable and more harmful to the root.

Judging by the size of the pot, when the plant is put into the basin for comparison, you think it is a little small (if you think it is too small, it is not good) is just right.

Don't love watering

Beginners love flowers eagerly, they want to water them when they see them, and when they water them, they have to give a little more, resulting in too much watering. Too much watering is bound to do a lot of harm. We suggest you: "you can make mistakes by watering less, not by pouring too much." Less water will only lose energy, can be adjusted, too much water will rot to death.

Don't use too much fertilizer

Fertilizer can promote plant growth, growth, flowering and fruiting. However, if the fertilizer is not sprinkled on it, the orchid will grow tall and blossom as you wish. Especially when a pot of orchids does not bloom, the first thing that comes to your mind is: maybe there is not enough fertilizer? Put some fat on it! The effect of fertilizer should be moderate and other conditions, such as sunshine and humidity, should be matched. The growth and flowering of plants also need the cooperation of other conditions. Plants also absorb fertilizer to a certain extent, and it absorbs as much as you give it.

Excessive fertilizer, no matter the concentration is too high or the frequency is too dense, is harmful to the orchid plant; using light fertilizer can never be wrong.

Fourth, do not plant too deep

Planting flowers too deep is also a common fault for beginners, so that if the plant head is buried in the plant material, it can absorb nutrients. (there is also a kind of instability and planting deeper so that the plant can stand.) this is all wrong. The head of the orchid plant should be exposed on the basin surface to avoid smoldering and new buds to rot. The unstable stand of the first plant should be fixed by rope or pillar.
