Recently, the State Forestry Administration held a press conference to introduce the situation related to forest ecological construction and nature conservation in China. Zhang Jianlong, deputy director of the State Forestry Administration, stressed that through a new round of returning farmland to forests, it will take five years to retire all cultivated land with a slope of more than 25 degrees for afforestation.

Zhang Jianlong said: forest ecological construction should also protect natural forests, and all 2.966 billion mu of natural forest resources should be protected. "the sign of protection is that there is no commercial logging in the natural forest, which will be stopped by the state next year and by collectives and individuals the year after that." Zhang Jianlong said: more than 2.7 billion mu of collective forest has been implemented to farmers through household contracts, and the collective forest is managed by forest farmers themselves. 10 trillion yuan of collective forest assets have been given to the common people in the form of household contracts, arousing farmers' enthusiasm for forestry development. Four or five billion farmers have benefited. Zhang Jianlong believes that for the current great development of forestry, the supporting reform of the collective forest right system must keep up with it. "only by giving collective woodland to farmers can we mobilize our enthusiasm and have motivation only by giving them the means of production, clarifying property rights and supporting policies."
