The total output value of animal husbandry in China is more than 2.9 trillion, and the amount of meat per capita reaches
Qiao Jinliang, a reporter from the Economic Daily in Beijing on June 14, reported: the latest data from the Ministry of Agriculture show that in 2014, the total output value of animal husbandry in the country exceeded 2.9 trillion yuan, and the per capita amount of meat reached 64 kilograms. The income directly engaged in livestock and poultry farming accounted for 1/6 of the family's cash income from agricultural operation, and the number of national leading enterprises in animal husbandry reached 583, accounting for 47 percent.
In terms of protecting the supply of livestock and poultry, according to the idea of "stabilizing pigs, protecting poultry, and promoting cattle and sheep", the national animal husbandry strives to enhance the comprehensive production capacity. During the 12th five-year Plan period, the central government invested a total of 14.9 billion yuan to support the infrastructure upgrading of nearly 38000 large-scale farmers. Since 2010, the state has launched the establishment of standardized demonstration activities for livestock and poultry breeding. Nowadays, standardized scale breeding of livestock and poultry has become the main force to ensure the supply of livestock products. In 2014, the proportion of live pigs, laying hens and dairy cows reached 42%, 69% and 45%, respectively.
Obvious breakthroughs have been made in scientific and technological innovation in the livestock and poultry breeding industry. In recent years, the state has successively issued and implemented genetic improvement plans for live pigs, dairy cows, beef cattle and mutton sheep, and the breeding system of improved varieties has been initially formed, and the ability of breeding and seed supply has been significantly improved. Since the 12th five-year Plan, a total of 39 supporting systems for new breeds of livestock and poultry have been cultivated throughout the country, of which self-cultivated laying hens have accounted for more than 40% of the national market share. At the same time, the pace of industrialization has been accelerated. The development momentum of the integration of "production, addition and marketing" in animal husbandry has been accelerated, and a large number of benefit-sharing production and management models such as "enterprises + farmers" and "enterprises + cooperatives" have been formed.
In the aspect of ensuring food safety, the Ministry of Agriculture organized the demonstration establishment of the "Feed quality and Safety Management Standard", improved the feed quality and safety monitoring plan, and significantly improved the situation of small chaos in feed enterprises. At present, all 11000 milk stations and 7000 transport vehicles across the country are under supervision and operate with 100% certificates. Milk stations are all run by three types of legal entities, and the mechanized milking rate has reached 90%, an increase of 39 percentage points over 2008.
In terms of protecting grassland ecology, monitoring shows that the overloading rate of livestock in key natural grasslands has dropped from 30% in 2010 to 15.2% in 2014. 3.84 billion mu of grasslands across the country have been recuperated through animal husbandry ban and balanced management of grass and livestock, and the ecological environment has been continuously improved. In 2014, the comprehensive vegetation coverage of grasslands across the country reached 53.6 percent, an increase of 2.6 percent over 2010, and the output of fresh grass was 1.02 billion tons, an increase of 4.7 percent over 2010. The grassland subsidy policy has 13.93 billion yuan directly subsidized to herdsmen every year, coupled with the high price of beef and mutton in recent years, the productive income of herdsmen continues to increase.
