At the meeting, statistics from the China Meat Association showed that the number of slaughtering and meat processing enterprises above the national scale decreased in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period, and decreased by 53 in March compared with February. "to enhance the industrial concentration of the slaughtering industry, speed up the elimination of backward decentralized slaughtering methods, improve the quality of domestic meat, reduce costs, and increase the competitiveness of imported meat, it has become an important factor for China's slaughtering and meat processing enterprises to solve difficult problems." Enhance the industrial concentration of the slaughtering industry and speed up the elimination of decentralized slaughtering methods
It is reported that due to the scattered sources of pigs, the utilization rate of the modern deep processing industry of many enterprises above scale is about 30%. In the first quarter of this year, there were more than 2000 enterprises in the slaughtering of beef cattle, of which less than 200 accounted for about 10 per cent. From the perspective of meat and poultry slaughtering, except for 851 enterprises of large scale and above, most of them are state-owned enterprises and listed companies. "the scattered market pattern makes it difficult to expand the slaughtering methods of scale, standardization, industrialization and modernization, and it is difficult to change the trend of loss and reduction of enterprises above scale." Gao Guan, deputy secretary general of the China Meat Association, believes that enterprises should, in accordance with the national industrial structure adjustment policy, enhance the industrial concentration of the slaughtering industry, speed up the elimination of backward decentralized slaughtering methods, and further increase the concentration in meat market sales.
The supply of meat should be solved by itself. At present, it is urgent to improve the competitiveness.
The slaughtering capacity of enterprises above scale and the harmless treatment capacity of morbid pigs decreased in the first quarter. Under the traditional industrial pattern of decentralized breeding and manual slaughtering in China, enterprises above scale have to compete not only with small and micro enterprises for pig resources, but also with imported meat. Last year, when domestic pig prices were low, China still imported 1.37 million tons of pork. In 2014, the total import volume of meat was 2.44 million tons and exports were 810000 tons, with an import and export deficit of 1.63 million tons, of which pork accounted for more than 70 percent of the total. Gao Guan said that enterprises above the size of our country need to improve the quality of meat and further increase the competitiveness of domestic meat while reducing costs.
Since the 12th five-year Plan, the scale of China's meat import is getting larger and larger, and the trade deficit is also getting bigger and bigger. Chen Wei, executive vice president and secretary general of the China Meat Association, pointed out: "the problem of China's meat supply must be solved by itself, and must not rely on imports." The risk of global meat food safety should be strictly controlled and managed.
In recent years, the quality management of the whole meat industry and the food safety risk control of the meat industry chain become more and more difficult. Meat safety has become an important issue for the global meat industry. At the meeting, Wei Renwei, senior vice president of the North American Meat Association, said that China and the United States, as world powers, should make good use of their own resources to jointly discuss and study meat food safety issues, so as to provide experience for the world meat industry chain.
It is reported that in order to speed up the upgrading and structural adjustment of China's meat industry, improve the level of meat safety, and promote exchanges and cooperation with the meat industry around the world, the China Meat Association and the World Meat Organization will hold a conference on the development of China's meat industry in Qingdao on September 19. The 13th China International Meat Industry Exhibition and the 10th China International Meat Food Culture Festival was held at Qingdao International Convention and Exhibition Center from September 20 to 22. The conference will invite government officials, industry experts, senior scholars, well-known entrepreneurs and other colleagues in the meat industry at home and abroad to jointly study and discuss the experience of industrial chain management, risk prevention and control measures and industry development trends around food safety issues, and put forward policy suggestions for the formulation of the 13th five-year Plan for the development of China's meat industry.
