The national average price of live pigs in May was 13.92 yuan per kilogram, up 7.8 percent from April (the same as the previous month, the same below) and 8.8 percent from the same period last year (the same as the same period last year, the same below). Among them, East China had the largest increase of 13.9%, while the southwest region had the smallest increase of 6.9%. In terms of price level, the average price of piglets is the highest in Northeast China, 30.36 yuan per kilogram, and the lowest in Southwest China, 20.25 yuan per kilogram.

Judging from the trend of monthly price changes, the prices of live pigs and pork rose for two months in a row, with a cumulative increase of 13.4% and 4.2% respectively, while the price of piglets rose for three months in a row, with a cumulative increase of 34.0%. Judging from the trend of weekly price changes, the prices of live pigs have rebounded comprehensively since the beginning of April. Among them, the prices of live pigs, pork and piglets have risen for 10, 9 and 15 weeks respectively, with cumulative increases of 17.1%, 6.6% and 38.6%, respectively.

The prices of major poultry products have fallen continuously.

The average price of eggs nationwide in May was 9.28 yuan per kilogram, down 2.7 percent from the previous month and 13.7 percent from the same period last year. The average price of eggs in 10 major laying hen producing provinces, including Hebei and Liaoning, was 7.45 yuan per kilogram, down 2.6 percent from the previous month and 26.7 percent from the same period last year. With the exception of Heilongjiang, other provinces have declined to varying degrees. Among them, the northwest region had the largest decline of 3.7%, while the northeast region had the smallest decline of 0.7%. In terms of price level, the average price of eggs in South China is the highest, 12.65 yuan per kilogram, while that in Northeast China is the lowest, 7.49 yuan per kilogram. The average price of live chickens in May was 18.26 yuan per kilogram, down 1.1% from the previous month and up 3.5% from the same period last year. Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, Hunan, Guangxi, Hainan, Shaanxi and Qinghai rose, while others fell. Among them, North China had the largest decline of 2.1%, while South China slightly increased by 0.2%. In terms of price level, the average price of live chickens is the highest in South China, 25.86 yuan per kilogram, and the lowest in North China, 11.93 yuan per kilogram. The average price of white-striped chicken was 18.56 yuan per kilogram in May, down 0.9% from the previous month and up 3.5% from the same period last year. Heilongjiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Fujian, Guangxi, Hainan, Chongqing and Shaanxi rose, Hunan was flat, and the rest fell. Among them, the northwest region had the largest decline of 1.8%, while the south China region rose slightly to 0.3%. In terms of price level, the average price of white-striped chicken is the highest in South China, 29.92 yuan per kilogram, and the lowest in Northeast China, 13.97 yuan per kilogram. The average price of commercial egg chicks was 3.14 yuan in May, down 2.2% from the previous month and 2.8% from the same period last year. The average price of commercial broiler chicks in May was 2.51 yuan, down 8.1% from the previous month and 12.8% from the same period last year.

Judging from the monthly price change trend, egg prices have fallen for eight consecutive months, with a cumulative decline of 23.9%. The prices of live chicken and white-striped chicken have both fallen for three months in a row, with cumulative decreases of 4.9% and 3.7% respectively. From the trend of weekly price changes, the prices of eggs and live chickens fell for 14 and 13 weeks respectively, while the price of white-striped chicken showed an overall downward trend since the fourth week of February.

The price of beef and mutton continues to decline.

The average price of beef nationwide in May was 62.61 yuan per kilogram, down 0.7% from the previous month and up 0.1% from the same period last year. The average price of beef in major producing provinces such as Hebei, Liaoning, Jilin, Shandong and Henan was 56.63 yuan per kilogram, down 0.4 percent from the previous month and 1.3 percent from the same period last year. The average price in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces was 73.08 yuan per kilogram, down 0.8 percent from the previous month and up 0.5 percent from the same period last year. The average price of mutton in May was 61.18 yuan per kilogram, down 1.8% from the previous month and 5.7% from the same period last year. The average price of mutton in major producing areas such as Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Henan and Xinjiang was 55.17 yuan per kilogram, down 2.1 percent from the previous month and 10.6 percent from the same period last year. The average price of mutton in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi and Guangdong was 70.77 yuan per kilogram, down 0.9 percent from the previous month and 0.5 percent from the same period last year.

Judging from the trend of monthly price changes, the prices of beef and mutton fell for three months in a row, the same trend as the same period last year. Judging from the trend of weekly price changes, beef prices rebounded slightly in the last week of May after 13 consecutive weeks of decline, while mutton prices fell slightly for 14 consecutive weeks, with a cumulative decline of 7.0%.

The price of fresh milk continues to fall.

The average price of fresh milk in 10 major producing areas, including Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang, was 3.40 yuan per kilogram in May, unchanged from the previous month, down 18.3 percent from the same period last year. From the price level, the price of Shanxi fresh milk is higher, 3.92 yuan per kilogram; the price of Shaanxi fresh milk is lower, 2.90 yuan per kilogram.

Judging from the monthly price change trend, the price of fresh milk has fallen for 14 consecutive months and shows signs of stabilizing.

The price of corn continued to rise slowly, while the prices of other feed products fell mainly.

The national average price of corn in May was 2.46 yuan per kilogram, up 0.8% from the previous month and 2.1% from the same period last year. The average price of corn in the three northeastern provinces of the main producing areas was 2.31 yuan per kilogram, up 1.3 percent from the previous month; the price of Guangdong, the main selling province, was 2.68 yuan per kilogram, up 1.1 percent from the previous month. The national average price of soybean meal in May was 3.47 yuan per kilogram, down 2.0% from the previous month and 16.0% from the same period last year. The average price of formula feed for fattening pigs, broilers and laying hens was 3.27 yuan, 3.35 yuan and 3.07 yuan per kilogram, respectively, down 0.3% from the previous month and 1.2%, 1.5% and 1.6% respectively from the same period last year.

Judging from the trend of monthly price changes, after five consecutive months of decline, corn prices rose slightly for three consecutive months, with a cumulative increase of 2.1%. The price of soybean meal fell for 11 consecutive months, with a cumulative decline of 16.8%.
