Kidney bean is another name for kidney bean, kidney bean, kidney lentil, bean, knife bean and so on. It is an annual herb and one of the common vegetables on the dinner table. Kidney beans can be planted in both spring and autumn, which are deeply loved by growers and are widely cultivated in the north and south of our country.

Planting time of green beans

From February to April (autumn sowing can also be held from August to September). The specific spring sowing time is from late April to mid-May in Northeast China, from April to early May in most parts of Northwest and North China, from late March to early April in East China, from late February to early March in most parts of Central and Southwest China, from late January to early February in Yunnan, and from December to April in South China. Autumn sowing: North China and Northwest China from July to early August; Central China from late July to early August; East China from late July to early September; Southwest China from early August; South China from late August to October.

The growing environment of kidney bean

1. Temperature: kidney beans like to be warm and not resistant to frost. The temperature range of seed germination is 20-30 ℃, and it cannot germinate below 10 ℃ or above 40 ℃. The seedlings were sensitive to the change of temperature, and the seedlings began to lose green at 2-3 ℃ in a short time, and 0 ℃ was caused by freezing injury.

2. Light: it belongs to short-day plants, but different varieties have different responses to photoperiod, which can be divided into three types: one is photoperiod sensitive, the second is photoperiod insensitive, and the third is moderately photoperiod sensitive.

3. Moisture: kidney bean has well-developed root system and more lateral roots, which is more tolerant to drought than waterlogging. Seed germination needs to absorb enough water, but too much water, lack of oxygen in the soil, seeds are easy to rot. The suitable field water holding capacity during the plant growing period is 60-70% of the maximum water holding capacity, the water requirement is strict at the flowering stage, and the suitable air relative humidity is 65-80%.

4. Soil and nutrition: kidney bean is most suitable to be cultivated in deep, soft soil with good drainage of humus. Sandy loam, loam and general clay can all grow, so it is not suitable to be cultivated in low wetland and good heavy clay. The suitable pH is 6-7. Should not be too acid or alkali. Kidney beans absorb more nitrogen and potassium, but less phosphorus. Also need some calcium fertilizer.

Planting time of different varieties of green beans

1. Dwarf beans: in late February, seedlings were raised in a nutrition bowl on a cold bed, with a seed amount of 3.5 kg per mu. Planting in the first ten days of April: the width of the border is 1 meter, the width of the furrow is 50 cm, 2 rows are planted on each border, the distance between holes is 23 cm, and 4 trees are planted in each hole. It was harvested in late May and mid-June, with a yield of 750kg to 1000 kg per mu.

2. Kidney beans: in the first ten days of March, the varieties are "Fengshou No.1" and "Xining kidney beans". The cold bed nutrition bowl sows and raises seedlings, with a seed amount of 2.53kg per mu. In late March, the small plastic arch shed was planted with a row spacing of 66 cm and a hole spacing of 26 cm, with 2 plants in each hole. Harvested in mid-May and mid-June, the yield per mu is more than 1500 kg.
