Spinach is divided into sharp leaves and round leaves, among which sharp-leaf spinach is also called Chinese spinach and winter spinach, which has good taste, strong cold tolerance and weak heat resistance, so it is suitable for autumn and winter cultivation. The fruit is prickly, and it is a common family vegetable. The following editor will introduce the balcony planting method of spinach to you!

Planting season

Spinach is generally sown from September to October (it can be sown in four seasons, but the quality of cultivation in autumn and winter is better, and attention should be paid to heat preservation when planting in winter in the north.

Seedling raising method

The lateral root of spinach is underdeveloped, not resistant to transplanting, and is usually direct seeded. Seeds can generally be preserved for 3 to 5 years, and seeds with 1 to 2 years have stronger germination ability. It can germinate when the temperature is more than 4 ℃, the optimum temperature for germination is 15 ~ 20 ℃, the germination rate decreases when the temperature is above 35 ℃, and the germination rate of dried seeds is slow.

1. Soak the seeds in 0.1% potassium permanganate solution for about 15 minutes, then soak the seeds in about 25 ℃ of water for 1O~l2 hours, and then sow the seeds in a cool place until the seed surface is slightly dry. At high temperature, germination can be accelerated after soaking seeds, that is, wrapped with wet cloth (or paper towels) and placed under the condition of about 15-20 ℃, most of the seeds will be sown after whitening.

2. After the basin soil is thoroughly watered, the seeds are sown on the soil surface, covering about 1cm to 2cm, slightly compacted. Germinate for about 1 week. Before germination, if the topsoil is dry, it can be watered by spray. The growth of seedlings is slow, and the growth rate begins to accelerate after 2 true leaves, which is usually watered once every 4 days to keep the soil moist.

3. If the density of the seedling is high, the seedling can be sprayed with thin mature organic fertilizer once in 3 to 4 true leaves.

Daily management

The main results are as follows: 1. From 4 to 5 true leaves, the leaves grow vigorously. According to the growth conditions, mature organic fertilizers (complete fertilizers of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, including more potassium and nitrogen fertilizers) can be sprayed to promote growth.

2. it is not resistant to waterlogging, sufficient water is needed during the growing period, and drought is avoided. Generally, it is watered every 1-2 days, and early and late watering is needed when high temperature is needed to keep the soil moist.

3. 4-5 true leaf time seedlings, usually pull out the larger seedlings, let the smaller seedlings continue to grow, and apply mature organic fertilizer once after harvest. It should be noted that thin fertilizer should be applied in the early stage of growth and when the temperature is high, and the concentration can be increased appropriately in the later stage of growth and low temperature.

4. It is not resistant to high temperature and strong cold resistance. The suitable temperature for growth is 1525 ℃. It can still grow when the temperature is above O ℃, but the growth is slow. Spinach seedlings with 4 ~ 6 true leaves have the strongest cold tolerance, which can survive the winter safely in the open field at about 10 ℃, and can endure short-term low temperature of 40 ~ 30 ~ C.

5, like sufficient light but not resistant to exposure, should pay attention to shade, easy to blossom when the light time is more than 12 hours every day; the growing period is short, and there are fewer diseases and insect pests.

Harvesting method

When spinach grows 4-5 true leaves, the plant can be harvested and eaten, and the height should not exceed 30 cm.

Pest control

1. Aphids: spray with 1000 times of dimethoate or 2000-3000 times of aldicarb.

2. Leaf miner: spray with 1000 times of 50% phoxim EC or 1000 times of 80% trichlorfon powder.

3. Downy mildew: spray with 58% Redomir 500 times or 75% chlorothalonil 600 times.

4. Anthrax: spray control with 50% thiophanate methyl 500 times or 50% carbendazim 700 times.
