Chives are perennial perennial root vegetables of Liliaceae, otherwise known as longevity leek, lazy vegetable, grass stalactite, etc., its adaptability is strong, cold and heat resistant, cultivated everywhere in our country, leaves, flower scape and flowers are eaten as vegetables, seeds can be used as medicine, with kidney strengthening stomach, qi refreshing, antiperspirant astringent and other effects, let's take a look at leek seeds germinate in a few days!

How many days does it take to sprout chives seeds?

The seeds sprout in about a week. Chives seeds are hard, water absorption expansion is slow, in order to make germination fast, before sowing to soak germination, start with 40℃ warm water soak, constantly stir, water temperature dropped to 30℃ below, continue to soak 12 hours, then wash clean with water, spread for a while, disperse seed surface moisture, the seeds wrapped with wet cloth, placed at 15~20℃, washed once a day with water, 3~5 days later, when most of the seeds exposed white tip can be sown. After sowing, if the soil and temperature are suitable, the germination time of leek seeds is about one week.

When are the seeds planted?

Chives can be sown at any time after thawing soil to autumn equinox, generally in spring, Huanghuai River basin spring sown chives from early April to mid-April, December to February in the south, May to June in the north, the ground temperature is stable above 12℃, the daily average temperature is 15~18℃ can be sown. Drilled seeding is adopted, dry seeds are used for 6~8 kilograms per mu of seedbed, and 6000 square meters of vegetable fields can be planted. After sowing, plastic film is immediately covered, heat preservation and temperature increase are carried out, and the film is removed when 70% of seedlings are topped with soil.

How easy is it to plant leek seeds?

1. Seedling land arrangement: leek seedling land should be easy for irrigation and drainage. Sandy loam or clay loam land that has not been planted with onion and garlic vegetables in recent 1~2 years should be deeply ploughed before winter, irrigated with frozen water, and tilled in spring to preserve moisture. 4~5 cubic meters of decomposed farm manure shall be applied per mu. 5% phoxim granules can be used to prevent Chinese chives maggots, adding 10~15 kg of dry fine soil per mu, evenly spreading, fine harrowing after shallow ploughing, leveling and making beds, with a width of 1.2~1.5 meters and a length of 7~10 meters, which is easy to manage.

2. Seed treatment: New seeds can be selected for leek. If the temperature is low in early spring, dry seeds can be used for sowing. Soaking seeds can be used for germination in order to seize moisture and germination. The seeds can be dried for 1~2 days before seed treatment. 1 - 2 days before sowing, the selected seeds are put into warm water at 40 DEG C, stirred vigorously, taken out and washed clean, soaked in warm water at 30 DEG C for 8 - 10 hours, placed under the condition of 18 - 20 DEG C for germination, washed twice with clean water every day, and sown immediately when 60% of radicles extend out.

3, seedling management: leek seedlings about 5 cm high, light irrigation, timely loosening. After 10 cm, it can be combined with watering to apply decomposed manure or urea 2~3 times, and crystal trichlorfon 0.5~1 kg per mu with water to kill pests such as leek maggots. Control irrigation after seedling height of 15 cm to prevent excessive growth and lodging. Weeds should be pulled out in time, and 0.5~0.75 kg of 25% herbicide should be used to control them when the seedling height is about 12 cm.

4. Reasonable planting: chives should be planted on fertile soil and convenient for irrigation and drainage, 4~5 cubic meters of decomposed farm manure should be applied per mu, and the beds should be leveled. The width of the ridge is 2~3 meters, and one group is formed every 3 ridges. Transplant from late June to early July, cut off the ends of fibrous roots before planting, and trim the bulbs into small bundles. Flat ridge hole planting, row spacing 13~20 cm, hole spacing 10~15 cm, 6~8 plants per hole is appropriate. When planting, it is advisable not to bury leaf sheaths. After planting, it is practical and watered in time.
