Nutrient solution is the key to soilless cultivation. Different crops require different nutrient solution formulations. At present, many formulations have been published in the world, but they are more or less the same, because the original formula is derived from the chemical composition analysis of soil extract. The biggest difference in nutrient solution formula is the proportion of nitrogen and potassium. Let's take a look at the complete formula of nutrient solution for soilless cultivation.

Preparation of nutrient solution for soilless cultivation

The nutrient solution of soilless culture should be based on the actual needs of crops for various nutrient elements on the one hand and the fertilizer absorption characteristics of crops on the other hand. In soilless culture, the nutrient solution is the only source of crop root nutrition, so the nutrient solution should include all the essential nutrients for crops, such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sulfur (S) and trace elements such as iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), boron (B), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), molybdenum (Mo). Different crops and varieties, different growth stages of the same crop, there are great differences in the actual needs of various nutrient elements. Therefore, in the selection of nutrient solution, we should first understand the requirements of different varieties and each growth stage for all kinds of essential elements, and take this as a basis to determine the composition and proportion of the nutrient solution.

Classical nutrient solution for soilless cultivation

1. Glick nutrient solution: Glick nutrient solution is the earliest nutrient solution formula used in soilless culture. its concentration is expressed by the number of grams of inorganic salts dissolved in 1000 liters (1 ton) of water.

2. Steiner nutrient solution: Steiner nutrient solution is widely used in the world, which is suitable for soilless cultivation of general crops. its concentration is expressed by the number of grams of all kinds of salt in every 1000 liters (1 ton) of water.

3. Penningsfield nutrient solution: Penningsfield nutrient solution was used to cultivate tomato in NFl method, and its concentration was expressed by the grams of all kinds of salt in 1000 liters (1 ton) of water.

4. Japanese garden test general nutrient solution: Japanese garden test general nutrient solution was developed by Japan Xingjin Horticultural Test site, which is suitable for a variety of vegetable crops, so it is called a general formula, and its concentration is expressed by the number of grams of all kinds of salt in 1000 liters (1 ton) of water.

5. Japanese Yamazaki nutrient solution formula: the Japanese Yamazaki nutrient solution formula was made into a nutrient solution formula suitable for many different crops on the basis of measuring the nutrient element absorption concentration of various vegetable crops from 1966 to 1976.
