China's corn imports increased 4.1 times in May compared with the same period last year.

In May, China imported 381806 tons of corn from Ukraine, with no comparable data for the same period last year; 6968 tons from Russia, an increase of 22.9 percent over the same period last year; 4370 tons from the United States, down 93.23 percent; and 2711 tons from Laos, an increase of 48.99 percent over the same period last year. Imports from Myanmar were 7291 tons, up 23.79 percent.

From January to May this year, China imported 1777619 tons of corn, an increase of 31.69 percent over the same period last year. The top supplier was Ukraine (1556746 tons), an increase of 538.57 percent over the same period last year. In addition, imports from Bulgaria were 98523 tons, an increase of 23.1% over the same period last year; imports from Russia were 57309 tons, an increase of 4.1% over the same period last year; imports from the United States were 44577 tons, down 95.22% from the same period last year; imports from Laos were 9812 tons, down 11.1% from the same period last year; and imports from Myanmar were 10357 tons, an increase of 43.09% over the same period last year.
