Gourd is also called gourd, gourd, Pu Lu, etc., which is an annual climbing herb of gourd family. Its fruit can be eaten as vegetables when it is immature. It is widely cultivated in tropical to temperate regions of the world. It is widely cultivated in all parts of China. The vines, leaves, flowers and fruits of various cultivation types are different. Let's take a look at the price and planting method of gourd seeds together.

How much are the seeds?

The price of gourd seeds varies greatly according to different varieties, such as about 1~1.5 yuan for a bag (5 seeds) of big wine gourd seeds, about 0.8~1.3 yuan for a bag (8 seeds) of big gourd seeds, about 50~60 yuan for a bag (10 seeds) of giant gourd seeds, about 6~8 yuan for a bag (10 seeds) of long handle gourd seeds, and about 5~8 yuan for a bag (10 seeds) of craft gourd seeds. A bag of large waist gourd seeds costs about 5~7 yuan (10 seeds). At the same time, the origin and purchase quantity are also the main reasons affecting the price of gourd seeds.

Cultivation Conditions of Gourd

1. Temperature: Cucurbit is a thermophilic crop, seeds begin to germinate at 15℃, the optimum growth temperature is 20~25℃, 9~10℃ growth and development are hindered, and premature senescence is easy to occur at 36~38℃.

2, water: gourd water absorption capacity is strong, transpiration is large, in case of drought should be timely irrigation, flowering period needs the most water, fruit development late to harvest before the water should not be too much.

3. Light: Gourd is resistant to weak light. In order to ensure high yield and high quality, it should be planted in open and sunny areas. When it is cloudy, it will affect the normal growth of melon seedlings and fruits.

4. Soil: Hyacinth has strong adaptability and grows well in slightly acidic (pH = 6.5~7) soil. The yield of planting in sandy loam with good drainage is higher.

How does the seed sprout?

1. Seed treatment: After drying the seeds for 1~2 days, soak them in 500 times of carbendazim solution for 30 minutes, then wash the seeds with clean water, and then soak them in warm water at 55℃ for 6~8 hours. Keep stirring during soaking. After soaking, take out the seeds and soak them in 10% trisodium phosphate solution for 25 minutes. After soaking, take out the seeds and wash them with clean water. Finally, wipe off the mucus on their surface with a dry towel.

2. Germination method: soak the towel with clean water and twist it to the extent that it does not flow water, then spread the treated seeds on the towel, the thickness should not exceed 1.5 cm, and then cover the seeds with the same wet towel. After covering, fold one side of the two towels and wrap them around the periphery of the plastic bottle. Pour warm water at a temperature of 30~32℃ into the plastic bottle, tighten the bottle cap and wrap the plastic bottle with plastic cloth to keep the humidity of the seeds.

3, temperature management: gourd seed germination in order to keep warm can be wrapped in cotton blanket outside the plastic bottle, and then put it in a warm place, when the water temperature in the plastic bottle is lower than 28℃, you can open the bottle cap to pour out the water inside, and then add new warm water (temperature of 30~32℃), change the water every 12 hours, after 36~48 hours the seeds can sprout.

How to sow gourd seeds?

1. Sowing method: The regeneration ability of gourd root system is weak. Generally, direct seeding is carried out on the nutrient bowl. 1~2 seeds are sown in each bowl, covered with nutrient soil for 1~2 cm, and the temperature is controlled at about 25℃. It can emerge in 3~4 days.

2. Cooling and ventilation: When one third of the seeds of gourd are unearthed, it is necessary to cool down to about 18℃ and start ventilation to prevent seedlings from forming high-legged seedlings. At the same time, try to let seedlings see more light, enhance the light and effect of seedlings, and improve resistance.

3. Thinning and watering of seedlings: Thinning seedlings once after calabash seedlings are complete, removing diseased seedlings, weak seedlings and miscellaneous seedlings, leaving one seedling in each bowl, watering at seedling stage should be properly controlled, and the bed soil should not be watered if it is not dry. For example, watering should be carried out at noon on a sunny day, and ventilation and moisture drainage should be carried out after watering.

4. Seedling training and disease prevention: gradually increase ventilation, prolong ventilation time, cool down and train seedlings one week before planting, improve seedling resistance, diseases and insect pests during seedling cultivation are similar to cucumber, so attention should be paid to prevention and control.

How to grow cucurbits

1. Base fertilizer for soil preparation: 2500 kg farm manure per mu of gourd planting land, 150 kg special fertilizer for vegetables or sulfur-containing compound fertilizer for base fertilizer, 0.67 m wide and 0.33 m high.

2, timely planting: gourd planting plant spacing 0.67 meters, digging holes to plant single seedlings, watering roots. Gramoxone was used for weeding once before ploughing, butachlor was sprayed once after tilling, and then transplantation was carried out.

3. Fertilizer and water management: top dressing of gourd is carried out according to soil fertility combined with watering. Generally, 15 kg of bean bran extract, 1.5 kg of biological phosphorus and 1.5 kg of biological potassium are applied per mu 6 days after transplantation. Mixed manure and water are applied once every 7~10 days.

4. Rod erection: 10~15 days after gourd planting, rod erection, pruning, pruning, removing old leaves, adjusting space to make it ventilated and transparent. Can cultivate a directional soil, so that melon seedlings tilt to the downwind direction, to avoid turning seedlings.

5. Artificial pollination: gourd generally does not bloom in the morning and rainy days, so it branches and pinches every morning, and pollination begins at 16:00 p.m., and pollination can be stopped after the department (August 23). Generally, there are 6~8 melons on two main vines.

6, timely harvest: gourd young melon hair basically fall off, skin color becomes pale for the appropriate harvest period, generally the first batch of melon harvest time is 15~20 days after flowering, flourishing fruit period is 10~12 days after flowering, fruit too old harvest affects the edible value.

Control of diseases and insect pests in gourd

1. blight

[Harm] Harm roots and stem base, leaves seriously wilted, after flowering and fruiting, the initial disease appearance seems to lack water, obviously wilted at noon, can recover in the morning and evening, roots turn brown or rot, affected parts overflow amber jelly.

[Control] 50% carbendazim diluted 500 times, 70% thiophanate diluted 600 times, fulvic acid diluted 800 times, special yellow betel diluted 1500 times, 50% dixon diluted 500 times, mifebingwei diluted 600 times or agricultural streptomycin root irrigation.

2. Anthrax

[Hazard] The initial disease spot is pale yellow and nearly round, and the center of the disease spot is broken in the later stage. In severe cases, the leaves die, the petioles appear pale brown stripes, the fruit is infected with light green water stains, and then the middle depression nearly round dark brown disease spot appears.

[Control] 70% thiophane 600-fold dilution, 75% chlorothalonil 500-fold dilution, mifebingwei 600-fold dilution, clomyl 1000-fold dilution, fenghuamia 1000-fold dilution and sulfur suspension 500-fold dilution were used for cross spraying control.

3. Downy mildew

[Harm] Light yellow spots appear on the affected leaves, and purple mold appears on the back of the spots when wet.

[Control] 58% ridoxycycline 500-fold dilution, manganese zinc acetate 500-fold dilution, 60% sanfudan 500-fold dilution, clomyl 1-fold dilution, beideli 600-fold dilution, 70% mancozeb 500-fold dilution, and pestilence 500-fold dilution are selected for spraying.

4. Insect pests

[Hazard] Gourd pests include melon aphid, melon fly, yellow gourd, moth, etc.

[Control] can be controlled by deep application or spraying with miler and spraying with pyrethroid pesticide mixture.
