For a long time, onion vegetables occupy an extremely important position in vegetable production in China. According to statistics, the cultivated area of onion vegetables accounts for 10% of the total sown area of vegetables in our country, and the output accounts for 7% of the total vegetable output, and the adaptability of onions is very strong. Green onions can be planted on the roof of the residents or in the courtyard, in the farmers' fields, or on the small balcony at home. Today, what we mainly discuss is how farmers grow green onions and how to make them high-yielding.

In fact, due to the different varieties, cultivation methods and product requirements of Welsh onions, the cultivation density of Welsh onions is completely different. Reasonable planting density of Welsh onions can effectively improve the commerciality and yield of Welsh onions. The following is aimed at some common green onions to bring you some planting experience.

For high-green green onions, it is best to use sparse planting during the planting period; on the contrary, for short-white green onions, close planting should be used during planting. This is one of the most basic laws of green onion planting, so how should it be planted? Please read on.

First, planting green onions in trenches.

For high green onion varieties, the furrow distance should be 80 to 100cm, if it is too narrow, it is not conducive to soil cultivation, and if it is too wide, the use of land is unreasonable, affecting the yield of green onions per unit area. 18000 to 22000 green onions can be planted per mu of land, while for short and white green onions, the distance between furrows can be appropriately reduced to 50 to 70 centimeters, and 22000 to 28000 green onions can be planted per mu.

Second, planting spring onions on the border

Compared with green onions, green onions are generally planted in flat rows or pinch, with row spacing of 20 cm and plant spacing of 3 to 5 cm, with 60000 to 80000 spring onions per mu; pinch spacing of 20 cm, 3 to 5 plants per pinch is the best.

In addition to the need to grasp the spacing of planting, the amount of fertilizer and the method of fertilization are also important factors affecting the yield of green onions. The following are introduced in terms of the amount of fertilizer applied and the principle of fertilization.

1. Fertilizer application rate of green onions

In general, green onions can reach 5000kg to 6000kg / mu in the case of high yield, so they need more nutrients. Under normal circumstances, for every 1000 kilograms of green onions, they need 2.7 kilograms of pure nitrogen, 0.5 ~ 0.6kg of phosphorus pentoxide, 3.3 kilograms of potassium oxide, and the absorption ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium is 1 ∶ 0.4 ∶ 1.3, which is very sensitive to potassium and nitrogen nutrition.

II. Fertilization principles of Welsh Onion

During the period of planting Welsh onions, if no or less potassium fertilizer is applied, the content of soil available potassium will decrease greatly, and the proportion of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium will be seriously maladjusted, which will lead to the aggravation of diseases and insect pests, the decrease of yield, the deterioration of quality and the decrease of economic benefits of planting Welsh onions. In fact, potash fertilizer can promote the growth of green onions and improve the ability to resist diseases and insect pests. Green onions lack potassium, the growth is slow, the plant is short, the green onion is short and the yield is low. After years of experiments, the yield of Welsh onion increased by 22.3%-28.2%, the content of vitamin C increased by 7.20%-16.0%, the content of soluble sugar increased by 15.5% and 12.7%, and the content of nitrate decreased by 22.6% and 26.5%. The income per mu increased by 1690,2000 yuan, and the output-input ratio of potash fertilizer was as high as 72.42 and 40.67 ∶ 1. The balanced fertilization technology of green onions with supplementary potassium fertilizer as the center has an area of more than 35000 mu, with an average yield increase of about 20%. The principle of balanced fertilization should be paid attention to in the process of fertilization for green onions. Balanced fertilization can increase the contents of vitamin C and soluble sugar, reduce the contents of harmful substances such as nitrate, improve the internal and external quality of green onions, and more importantly, balanced fertilization has a very significant effect on the yield increase of green onions.

The above experiences are summarized from four aspects: varieties, planting methods, fertilizer application rates and fertilization methods, mainly aimed at the green onions planted by farmers and how to make them high-yielding. I hope it can provide some help and reference for growers who intend to start planting or have already planted green onions.
