"the 34-year-old deputy county magistrate who graduated from Peking University resigned to work as a farmer." after the news was reported by the media recently, it exploded in the news media and moments, and almost everyone asked a question: what on earth made the young deputy county magistrate resolutely bid farewell to his official career and return to his hometown to work as a farmer? In the face of all kinds of speculation, Liu Tao, the protagonist of the news, had a dialogue with the reporter about the value, ideal and choice of life.

□ character

The youngest deputy county magistrate graduated from Peking University

Paoma Village, Dongyueguan Town, Cili County, Hunan Province, is located in the east of Wuling Mountains, about 280 kilometers away from the provincial capital Changsha. The mountain road with a 90% discount along the cliff and riverside seems to tell passers-by how difficult it is to get out of this great mountain. It was from here that 17-year-old Liu Tao was admitted to Peking University.

Since joining the job in 2003, Liu Tao's official career has been plain sailing. That year, Liu Tao, who graduated from Peking University, took the entrance examination for selected students in Hunan Province. in July that year, Liu Tao worked as an office secretary in Shuangxiqiao Township, Yongding District, Zhangjiajie City.

A year later, the Zhangjiajie Youth League Municipal Committee selected two cadres by examination, and Liu Tao was successfully admitted. In 2005, Liu Tao was transferred to the Communist Youth League Hunan Provincial Committee. In February 2009, Liu Tao was transferred to the ethnic and religious work Office of the United Front work Department of the Hunan Provincial CPC Committee, where he worked until he was transferred to Linli County.

In October 2012, Liu Tao was appointed deputy magistrate of Linli County, Changde City. Of the seven deputy county magistrates, he was the youngest at the age of 31.

Quit the official and pursue the value of personal interest in farming

At the end of 2014, Liu Tao resigned as deputy county magistrate and decided to go home and grow kiwifruit with hearts. The news went viral on the Internet, which also led to all kinds of speculation. One of the most frequently mentioned speculation is: is the young deputy county magistrate dissatisfied with grass-roots work?

A local official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said this statement was untenable because it was not difficult for young cadres like Liu Tao who had worked in the provincial party committee for a long time to be transferred back to the province through operation if they were unhappy. "moreover, if you feel at ease to be this deputy county magistrate within the system, it will not be a problem to muddle along." The official believes that Liu Tao's resignation should be the result of a combination of internal and external factors, and it is his personal interests and pursuits that play a decisive role.

In an interview with the media, Liu Tao said more than once: "the value of a person does not depend on his position, but on the direction of his efforts." Perhaps, in the position of deputy county magistrate, many people will compliment you. But what they see is that seat, not you. "

Go back to your hometown to start a business, hoping to drive the villagers to become rich.

Liu Tao is also unable to confirm whether he will resign to work as a farmer if he has been working in the United Front work Department. However, when I was working in Linli County, I had more thinking after doing some research on rural problems in the villages and towns in charge.

"the state has a very good policy and has done a lot of support work. For example, build roads and bridges. However, if there is no one in rural areas to take the lead in the development of industry, farmers do not taste the benefits, rural people will still be lost, rural land will still be abandoned. It is very difficult to solve the problems of left-behind children and empty nesters. "

Before his parents moved to Changsha, Liu Tao would go back to Happy Horse Village for a period of time every year. Looking at the increasingly dilapidated countryside, he was very worried. "if we don't do something, it will be a real wasteland."

Liu Tao said: "time can't wait. You can't wait until you retire." Not to mention 30 years, there will be no one in five or ten years. "

"I think we civil servants have certain resources, knowledge and connections. If we don't start our own business, do we all rely on college students?"

Liu Tao is optimistic about the economic benefits of this fruit. He hopes that he can gradually change the appearance of the mountain village and drive the villagers to become rich. Today, he has set up the first red kiwifruit planting base in Happy Horse Village. At the same time, he collects local specialties such as Pueraria, honey and bacon from farmers' homes, and will build an online sales platform to sell them, which will be available by the end of June.

□ conversation

Talking about resignation is a career choice.

Reporter: let's talk about the reasons for resignation that everyone is most concerned about. If you are so young to become a deputy county magistrate, many people may not be able to sit in this position even when they are in their forties and fifties. Some people on the Internet speculate that there is no hope of promotion because of a poor job, or that the job is too stressful to be competent. Do you agree with this statement?

Liu Tao: actually, I did a pretty good job as a civil servant. Recently, I sorted out my previous materials and found many honorary certificates, outstanding party members, advanced workers, and civil servants' second-class merit medals, which is very difficult to get. I can't say that I resigned because I couldn't be a county magistrate. That reporter may have misunderstood me. If we do it step by step, it is not without room for improvement. Before I resigned, I was also seconded to the provincial local taxation bureau to work, it should be said that the leadership of my work is recognized, but also have opportunities for progress.

Interviewer: is there any opportunity or something that triggered your decision to resign and start a business?

Liu Tao: I have this idea, at least for more than half a year. After I went to work in the county, I went down more and had more contact with the common people. I felt that farmers needed people to lead them to start their own businesses. I was originally from the countryside, and I have feelings for my hometown and land. You can see that the environment of my hometown is very beautiful, but because there are no young people, a lot of land is wasted, and the most is to grow corn, because it is convenient. I think if we don't go back to do it, it may be too late.

Interviewer: so you think it's a natural decision, not so difficult or important?

Liu Tao: I think it's all right. It's just a career choice. I have told other reporters that I think farmers are the freest profession, and I have the interest and ability to do it. As a matter of fact, many cadres have resigned now, but some have gone to enterprises, some have gone abroad, some have started businesses, and not many have resigned to engage in agriculture, so they have attracted attention. At present, the country is also under this kind of guidance, and civil servants should be able to get in and out of the country.

Interviewer: but your family doesn't necessarily think so. Do they support you?

Liu Tao: my wife is very supportive because she can spend more time with her. The most supportive is my 9-year-old son, who saved all his lucky money for the Spring Festival this year and said he would leave it to his father to start a business (laughter). My parents and my grandfather, who is in his 80s, really didn't understand at first and burst into tears. But now they all figured it out. In order to support me to start a business, my father, who had moved to Changsha, went back to his hometown and took everyone to work in the fields. The mother wants to take care of her grandson, but she is worried about her family. Now Changsha and Cili are running at both ends.
