Eggplant is a common vegetable on our table. There are many ways to do it. Many of them like it, but they don't know how to grow it. Eggplant is grown in both north and south regions, and it is one of the main vegetables in summer. Below, the pro-agricultural network brings you the time and methods of eggplant planting. Let's learn about it.

Planting time

Eggplant is an annual herb, which is sensitive to temperature, and the suitable temperature for growth is between 20 and 30 degrees, so it is suitable for planting in Spring and Autumn. Generally, the planting time in spring can be sowed in January-February and harvested in April-June, and sown in July-August in autumn and harvested in October-December. Of course, with the development of planting technology, the temperature can be controlled manually, so many vegetables can be planted out of season. This can also enhance economic value.

Planting method

1. Seed selection

After years of cultivation and cultivation, many varieties of eggplant have been produced, and we should adjust measures to local conditions when selecting eggplant. For example, if the annual average temperature in some areas is higher, we should choose varieties with good heat resistance; on the contrary, the annual average temperature is lower, so we need to choose cold-tolerant varieties; if there are more Rain Water in some areas, we need to choose varieties that are tolerant to Rain Water; but in any case, the varieties chosen must have good disease resistance.

2. Soil selection and soil preparation

Choose soil with loose soil, sufficient fertility and good drainage, preferably in areas with sufficient light, deep ploughing and exposure of the soil, with a height of more than 30 cm, double row planting of 1.7 meters and single row planting of 1 meter.

3. Sowing seeds

Eggplant can be sowed in spring and autumn, spring sowing in January-February, autumn sowing in July-August, of course, also affected by regional climate change sowing, generally 15-20 grams per mu of seed.

4. Fertilizer and water management

Eggplant also has higher requirements for water and fertilizer, so it is necessary to apply light fertilizer in the seedling stage, according to plant growth, but it is not suitable to apply thick fertilizer, otherwise it will damage the seedling root or cause the plant to grow excessively. During the pollination period, if the plant is not seriously short of fertilizer and water, fertilizer and water are generally not applied. When the fruit is as big as eggs, fertilizer and water should be applied in time to promote the rapid expansion of the fruit, but when the fruit changes color, stop fertilizing, but need watering, and keep the soil moist at all times.

5. Field management

In order to reduce the nutrient consumption of the plant and make the plant blossom and bear more fruit, when the plant is removed at the budding stage, there are no budding lateral branches, and the plant should be supported with a support to prevent the plant from lying on the ground and avoid rotten fruit.

The above are the planting time and methods of eggplant brought by pro-agricultural network. In addition to strengthening fertilizer and water management when eggplant is planted, in order to ensure its fruit quality, miscellaneous plants in the field are usually removed during the pollination period to avoid poor fruit caused by cross-pollination. After pollination, remove the inbred fruit and male parent plant from the female parent plant.
