Planting time

The growth cycle of chili peppers is relatively long and can last from February to August and September. Let's take the planting in Hunan as an example. 1. Seed selection and soil preparation

Now there are many varieties of Chaotian pepper, which can be divided according to capsaicin content, yield, quality and so on. We generally choose varieties with strong resistance, high yield, full color, fast fruit, strong spicy taste and high performance-to-price ratio. Chaotian pepper needs to have sufficient nutrients, so the land had better choose a more fertile one, at the same time, it is seriously affected by water, so it is necessary to do a good drainage system in advance during soil preparation, usually with a ditch every other meter. this can effectively prevent some diseases caused by water. Finally, the soil preparation will try to make the soil as small as possible, and at the same time make the land look flat, and then spread farm manure evenly according to the average amount of fertilizer needed per mu.

2. Sowing and raising seedlings

If you buy the seeds packaged by others, you can generally sow them directly, because they have already treated the seeds, so you don't need to worry about sprouting and resistance. But if the seeds are harvested by ourselves, we first need to pour the seeds out of the pepper, prevent them from being exposed to the sun for a few days, and then soak them in warm water for 18 minutes and then fish them out in order to enhance its resistance. so we can soak it in the medicine for 15 minutes, then rinse it out with water, and put it in an environment big enough for the seeds to germinate quickly. 3. Transplanting density

When the seedlings of Chaotian pepper on the seedling bed grow to about 10 centimeters, we can pull out the seedlings and transplant them. When transplanting, we usually plant them at an interval of 30 to 35 centimeters per plant and 40 to 45 centimeters per row. First of all, we will make small holes in the whole land according to this interval, each hole needs to be about five to eight centimeters deep, and then plant a seedling.

4. Field management

After planting, we need to immediately carry out a watering, so that it can adapt to the new environment more quickly, grow new roots, and improve the survival rate. Five to ten days after transplanting, some of the fields may not survive, so timely replenishment of seedlings is needed to ensure the quality of seedlings in the field. Because of their different rates of growth and adaptation to the environment, we need to apply urea and compound fertilizer for the first time after transplanting, so that the slower-growing plants can keep up with the general growth rhythm. When the seedlings of Chaotian pepper grow to 20 to 25 centimeters, we need to carry out the first ploughing and weeding, along with the second topdressing, to improve the soil's absorptive capacity, permeability and growth rate.
