Jiegu, also known as Mao Gourd, is a variety of wax gourd and belongs to the annual climbing plant of Cucurbitaceae. Jiegu originated in the south of our country, it is more suitable to grow in the place of high temperature and strong light, it has a certain effect of clearing heat and relieving heat, detumescence and diuresis. It is a very suitable fruit to eat in summer. it is very popular in our daily life whether it is used to cook soup or stir-fry. Today, the editor has brought you the planting method of Jiegu. Let's take a look at it.

1. Planting density

Before planting Chieh-qua, we have to dig a border of about two meters between the soil, which can plant about two rows of Chieh-qua, and the distance of each planting hole is usually in 45cm. No more than two plants can be planted in each hole, and a maximum of 3000 plants can be planted in one mu of land. After planting, water the plant immediately and cover it with a plastic sheet. if the temperature is too low at night, you can cover it with a layer of forage to keep it warm. The planting area of Chieh-qua needs to be established in the leeward to the sun, with adequate water sources, disease-free, and good drainage and irrigation system.

2. Fertilizer and water management

Chieh-qua needs to be watered immediately after planting, and then no watering is needed until the vine is drawn. When Chieh-qua begins to grow, it needs to be watered and fertilized. At least 150 jin of diammonium phosphate should be applied per mu. When the first Chieh-qua begins to grow to about 15 cm, Chieh-qua needs to be watered frequently and the soil moisture should be maintained at all times, because this stage is when Chieh-qua needs water most. After the growth of the second Chieh-qua, it is necessary to start topdressing, because it is necessary to provide it with adequate nutrients to meet the growth needs of Chieh-qua.

3. Plant adjustment

In the process of planting Chieh-qua, it is necessary to maintain the good growth of the plant at all times, trim its shape to a certain extent, and set up the plant to draw vines when tendrils appear. In general, Jiegu is built into a "human" shape, which can not only accelerate the growth of plants, but also effectively control some diseases and insect pests. Before the fruiting period comes, all the lateral vines growing at the base of the main vine should be removed to prevent competing with the main vine for nutrients. Results in the later stage, all the lateral vines in the lower part of the plant were removed and the upper lateral vines in the plant were retained, which could effectively increase the yield.

4. Timely harvest

The harvest time of Jiegu is also very fastidious, the harvest time should not be too late and too early, the harvest party makes Jiegu overmature, easy to crack melons, easy to produce diseases and insect pests, and may miss the time on the market. Early harvest will lead to immature Chieh-qua, affect the quality and reduce the commodity value. The general ripening time of Chieh-qua is generally within 1-2 months of the first flower, and the specific harvest time needs to be measured according to the degree of maturity, market demand and consumers' eating habits. For example, there are more people who like to eat delicate melons, so about 1 jin of melons can begin to be harvested and listed.

The above is a brief introduction to the planting methods of Chieh-qua. When planting Chieh-qua, we need to pay attention to the management of fertilizer and water. There is a correct method of fertilizer and water management, which can make Chieh-qua grow better in the later stage. Also need to pay attention to diseases and insect pests, diseases and insect pests are a headache for every crop. We should do a good job in the management of the park, reduce the pathogen and reduce the incidence of disease. This article is for reference only. I hope it can be helpful to all of you.
