The current situation of the aquaculture industry that I am worried about

Although the market affects the mood of practitioners, the aquaculture industry is still thriving. In addition to cross-border bosses rush into the aquatic industry, large and small enterprises within the industry also continue to declare their desire to grow into hegemony, which means that the aquatic industry still has opportunities, but also shows that the industry pattern has not yet been really formed. In this noisy industry gold rush, behind the seemingly lively, there should be two forces wrestling, one is the push to move the industry forward, and the other is the resistance formed by those with vested interests. I am not a pessimist or a conspiracy theorist, but as people enjoy the feast of troubled times in the industry, there is a vague concern that stakeholders may not mind letting the troubled times last longer.

When it comes to feed. The reason why aquatic feed is sought after by agricultural and animal husbandry enterprises is that aquatic feed has not yet produced a real standard. Different from the animal husbandry industry, which is rapidly improving in scale, standardization and intensification, the diversification of water environment, breeding models and even breeding habits will lead to a certain specificity in the market demand for aquatic feed products, so it is difficult to objectively evaluate the effect of products in a large range. Especially in recent years, affected by the market, diseases and so on, farmers tend to choose mixed culture mode to avoid risk, or do not feed in the whole process, these habit changes will cause farmers can not have a very accurate evaluation of the feed effect. As a result, feed enterprises have more opportunities.

Second, microecological agents. Now many enterprises claim to introduce bacteria from abroad, and these live bacteria products do have a more significant effect, but without exception, they need to be put in regularly. Some experts have put forward an idea before: screening local dominant bacteria may be more suitable for disease prevention and control in the process of aquaculture. The general basis is that "one soil raises another bacteria", foreign bacteria can form a dominant flora in a short period of time, but they will die out soon, so they need to be put in regularly; if indigenous bacteria are selected, after the formation of dominant bacteria, they will be able to exist relatively stably. However, from the perspective of the business logic of enterprises, the promotion of foreign strains can only be beneficial to enterprises, and the promotion of local strains is more like a public welfare cause. At the same time, it also leads to another question: will the long-term introduction of exotic bacteria affect the ecology of the local flora and lead to a series of chain reactions such as changes in soil, water and other environments?

Third, farming. At present, the water used in aquaculture is still a public resource, and individual farmers do not have to pay taxes on production, so they are free to use water resources without having to pay for the negative impact of aquaculture on the environment. The way to make a profit is to continuously increase the production of aquaculture, which is also what each link in the current aquaculture value chain would like to see. In the process, the aquaculture water is naturally discharged (it takes cost to treat aquaculture wastewater, and it is difficult for farmers to treat it spontaneously under the drive of benefits). Although some of them have withdrawn or transferred, newcomers or newly developed farming areas have followed the rough profit model mentioned above without exception. In the long run, will there be a piece of pure land in the future to provide ourselves with safe aquatic products?

Worry is also accompanied by some conjecture, or unrealistic. However, at a time when aquaculture production has exceeded demand and is increasingly affected by imported high-quality aquatic products, we should think about how to make China's aquaculture industry develop healthily and sustainably and take action.
