Green onion is a common crop in our country, which is widely planted in our country, especially in the north, many people make money by planting it. When planting green onions, rational fertilization is the key to obtain high yield, so how to fertilize green onions to obtain high yield? Let's have a look with the editor.

1. Characteristics of fertilizer requirement

Welsh onion is a fertilizer-loving crop. Like other vegetable crops, it is sensitive to nitrogen. The application of nitrogen fertilizer during planting will accelerate its growth and have an obvious yield-increasing effect. According to the research, the yield of green onions per mu is 3000 kg, which requires 8-10 kg nitrogen, 1.5-1.8kg phosphorus and 9-11kg potassium. Welsh onion is sensitive to phosphorus in the seedling stage, and phosphorus deficiency in the seedling stage will affect the late yield, and the application of potash fertilizer should be strengthened in the green onion formation stage. In addition to nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, calcium, magnesium, boron and manganese also have certain effects on the growth of Welsh onion. Under the condition of sufficient nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, the application of calcium, manganese and boron can obviously increase the yield.

2. Principles of fertilization

In the planting of Welsh onions, no or less potassium fertilizer will be applied, which will lead to a substantial decrease in soil potassium, resulting in the imbalance of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, thus aggravating the diseases and insect pests of Welsh onions, seriously affecting the yield and quality, and reducing economic benefits. The application of potassium fertilizer can not only promote the growth of Welsh onion, but also improve the ability of resistance to diseases and insect pests. Balanced fertilization can not only increase production, but also reduce the content of harmful substances such as nitrate through the content of vitamin C and soluble sugar.

3. Base fertilizer

After selecting the planting site, it is necessary to apply sufficient base fertilizer combined with soil preparation, and the method of fertilization depends on the fertilizer. Generally, the method of spreading fertilizer should be used when the amount of fertilizer is large, and if the amount of fertilizer is small, it should be applied at the bottom of the planting hole, and the fertilizer generally chooses mature or semi-rotten organic fertilizer. 5000-8000 kg of rotten barnyard manure can be applied per mu, while 25kg of superphosphate, 150kg of plant ash and 8-10kg of potassium sulfate can be applied per mu of phosphorus-deficient soil.

4. Topdressing

Green onion is applied slowly after planting, and when it enters the peak growing season, the old leaves are withered and yellow, and the new leaves continue to grow, in order to make its multiple leaves and leaf sheaths grow. After the Beginning of Autumn should be fertilized in time, 4000 kg of soil and miscellaneous fertilizer per mu should be applied on the back of the ridge, or 150kg of cake fertilizer per mu, and then shallow hoe and watering should be applied. After half a month, the second fertilizer will be applied. This time, 750kg-1000 kg of manure water per mu will be applied, combined with soil cultivation and watering. After one month, topdressing the third fertilizer, applying 15-25 kg nitrogen fertilizer per mu, watering and cultivating soil after fertilization can quickly gain weight.
