Pea is one of our favorite vegetables, it is nutritious, originated from the Mediterranean and Asia, is one of the most important cultivated crops in the world. If you want to get high yield when planting, fertilization is the key point, so how to apply fertilizer to get high yield of pea? Let's take a look.

1. Soil requirements

In order to obtain high yield of pea, in addition to fertilizing in the growing period, we should first select the planting site before planting. Peas are not strict with the soil and can be suitable for a variety of soils. However, it is suitable for loam or clay soil with soil pH value of 6-8. Once the pH value of soil is lower than 5.5, diseases are easy to occur and pod setting rate is reduced. If the acidity is too high, the conditions of lime and plant ash can be improved. In addition, the root system of pea will secrete an effective activity to rhizobium and root growth substance, so it is best not to continuous cropping.

2. Characteristics of fertilizer requirement

There is a great demand for nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer in the whole growing period of pea, in which nitrogen is the most, potassium is the second, and phosphorus is the least. Although its root nodule can fix nitrogen in the soil, I still need to apply nitrogen fertilizer. When applying nitrogen fertilizer, we should pay attention to the nitrogen supply of root nodules. in the early stage of growth, if too much nitrogen fertilizer is applied, it will lead to delayed formation of root nodules, resulting in excessive growth of aboveground stems and leaves and falling flowers and pods, while in harvest, if the supply of nitrogen fertilizer is insufficient, it will be shortened in the harvest period and reduce the yield. In addition, during the formation of root nodules, the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer can promote the formation of root nodules, prevent plant overgrowth and enhance disease resistance.

3. Apply sufficient base fertilizer

In the growth cycle of pea daunt, the main root develops rapidly, and the seedlings can generally emerge within one week after sowing. The main root is more than ten centimeters long after the seedlings are unearthed for 10 days, and the main root can grow to more than 154cm after 20 days. Therefore, base fertilizer must be applied before planting. Spring sowing in the north is generally applied in autumn ploughing, while in the south, base fertilizer is generally applied during soil preparation to ensure that the seedlings have enough nutrients to grow and make them neat and strong. Base fertilizer is generally based on organic fertilizer, supplemented by chemical fertilizer, 3000-5000 kg of rotten organic fertilizer, 25-30 kg of superphosphate and 10 kg of urea can be applied per mu.

4. topdressing at the right time

In the growing period, in order to make it blossom and bear pods, it is necessary to apply fertilizer in time according to the growth of the plant, and the first fertilizer can be applied at the flowering stage. Generally, 5 kg of urea and 15-20 kg of ternary compound fertilizer are applied per mu, and applied or watered before the rainy season. This can speed up the absorption by the plant. The second time in the podding period, urea 7-8 kg per mu and ternary compound fertilizer 20-25 kg per mu should also be combined with watering.

The above is the introduction of high-yield fertilization technology of pea. I hope it can help you. If you want to know more about it, please follow us.
