Lettuce is actually what we call lettuce, which in some places is also known as golden vegetables, green shoots and so on. Lettuce has the characteristics of cold and cool, not resistant to high temperature, moist, fertile and so on, so we have certain requirements on the climatic conditions, soil, moisture and light conditions of the planting land. So what the editor wants to share with you today is the seedling method of lettuce planting. Let's take a look at how lettuce cultivates seedlings.

1. Seed selection and treatment

After long-term improvement, the variety of lettuce has been planted in four seasons in the market. Lettuce is planted in different seasons, and the varieties it chooses are also different. After selecting the varieties to be planted, we need to select full-grained, pest-free seeds for planting. However, the emergence rate of lettuce is not very high, so we need to treat the seeds at a low temperature before planting, soak them in water for 12 hours, then wrap them in cloth and store them in a low temperature environment for two or three days. The temperature of the low temperature is controlled at about two to five degrees. Finally, the seeds are taken out and placed in a cool environment to accelerate germination. After most of the seeds grow white, they can be sown.

2. Site selection and rectification of seedbed

Lettuce planting also has requirements for soil, especially the choice of seedling land, preferably soft soil, convenient drainage and irrigation, and fertile soil. After selecting the seedling site, we also need to rectify the soil. In general, we need to add an appropriate amount of mature farm manure to the seedbed, and appropriate sprinkle a small amount of compound fertilizer to improve the land. It is also important to note that the soil of the seedling bed must be fine and granular, made into flat or high beds, and finally sowed.

3. Sowing time and method

Nowadays, lettuce can be planted all the year round, so there is no specific regulation on the planting time, but there are different precautions when sowing at different times, such as anti-freezing, anti-high temperature and so on. Direct seeding is the most common way to sow seeds, of course, it can also be carried out by strip sowing. When sowing, we should try to let the seeds into the soil, it is best to cover a layer of fine soil, and spray a new high-fat membrane liquid, which is conducive to the emergence of seeds.

4. Seedling stage management

After sowing, we need to water the seedlings, which can promote the growth rate of the seedlings. If the seedlings are raised in the greenhouse, the seedlings can usually emerge in about three to five days, and the seedlings in the open field usually take about ten days to emerge. We also need to control the temperature and light in the field before emergence, otherwise it will also affect the emergence rate of lettuce. Under normal circumstances, we should water frequently, but each time the amount of water should not be too large, as long as we keep the seedbed soil moist. The second is to build a sunshade net on the seedbed, shading can avoid excessive light damage to the seedlings. Finally, if we want the seedlings to grow rapidly, we can also apply a small amount of fertilizer when watering and transplant as soon as possible.

During the period of lettuce seedling cultivation, we also need to prevent early smoking, and at the same time, we also need to do a good job in the prevention and control of diseases and insect pests, so as not to affect lettuce seedlings and eventually lead to normal planting.
