Lentils are widely distributed in China, and there are many varieties. According to the color, we can generally be divided into white lentils, purple lentils, red lentils and green lentils. Lentils have strong adaptability to the environment, good planting and high survival rate, but we still have a lot of points to pay attention to in the process of planting. So do you know what problems you need to pay attention to when growing lentils? Let's follow the editor to learn the points for attention in lentil planting.

1. Planting time

The planting time of lentils is a point that we need to pay attention to, because the climate of different regions of our country is still a little different, so the planting time must be early and late. But under normal circumstances, we can sow seeds one after another around the middle of January every year, but we can't transplant and transplant until the middle of February. It should also be noted that lentils are planted near the Yangtze River basin in summer from May to July, while in North China they are sown in June. In other words, we can not randomly sow, otherwise it will affect the emergence rate of lentils and the yield in the later stage.

2. Planting density

If lentils want to grow well and have high yield and quality in the later stage, then the planting density is also a very important issue. In general, it is best to plant lentils with 1500 to 2, 000 holes per mu, that is to say, the row spacing of each plant is about 50 to 70 centimeters, and the plant spacing is about 50 to 60 centimeters. At least two or three seedlings are needed in each planting hole, that is to say, by the time they are finally planted, the number of seedlings in the field will be about 3,000 to 4,000.

3. Scaffold construction

In order to increase the yield of lentils, make rational use of land resources, and do not have and maintain good field permeability, we need to build scaffolds when lentil seedlings grow to a certain height. When the seedling is about 40 centimeters, a bracket is inserted next to each hole, which can be wooden pole, bamboo pole and so on. Then connect the scaffold with a rope, and then pull the seedlings to the scaffold to climb and grow.

4. Scientific water and fertilizer

Lentils are a kind of fertilizer-loving plant, so there is a great demand for fertilizer for its growth. In addition to the base fertilizer before planting, we also need to apply fertilizer reasonably according to the different growth periods of lentils. After transplanting the seedlings, we will top apply organic compound fertilizer, phosphate fertilizer and miscellaneous fertilizer, the amount of fertilizer is about 800 kg. Secondly, there is no proper topdressing of bean cake fertilizer, phosphate fertilizer and miscellaneous fertilizer for three times in the growth and development stage of lentil seedlings, and the dosage is controlled at about 150 kg each time. Finally, after each harvest of lentils, it is necessary to restore the growth of lentil seedlings, so appropriate foliar fertilizer is needed.

5. Pruning and picking the heart

It is very important to tidy up the branches and leaves of lentil seedlings and pick the heart. When the lentil seedlings grow to about 50 cm, we need to remove the heart leaves from the main stem of the seedlings to promote multi-branched growth, so as to increase the yield of lentils. Secondly, after the lentil plant is formed, in order to maintain good permeability in the field, we will remove the branches or leaves that are too dense, which can also reduce nutrient consumption.

In fact, the cultivation of lentils is similar to the cultivation of green beans, Dutch beans, cowpeas and other vegetables, and lentils are easier to survive than these vegetables, so if we plant according to the correct planting techniques, I believe it will be of high yield and high quality.
