The florescence of lentils is the critical period of pollination and fruit setting, and the management of this period is very important. The florescence digests a large amount of nutrients and has a great demand for fertilizer. So how to manage the florescence of lentils? How to apply fertilizer? Let's get to know it.

1. Temperature management

At this stage, it is necessary to keep room temperature properly so that the temperature is not too high or too low, which is disadvantageous to the flowering and podding of lentils. The suitable temperature is between 16 and 27 degrees, and 18-25 degrees is suitable. Below 15 degrees or higher than 28 degrees will affect flowering and pods. It will also cause serious flower and pod drop. Especially when the temperature is higher than 32 degrees, it will not only drop a large number of flowers and pods, but also seriously affect the quality of young pods, so when the temperature exceeds 28 degrees, it is necessary to strengthen ventilation, reduce the temperature, or spray water fog to increase air humidity and reduce the temperature.

2. Fertilizer and water management

Lentils should not be watered or topdressing before the early flowering stage and pod setting stage. Only after setting pods can they begin to water and fertilize. Under the condition of plastic film, the method of pouring dark water under plastic film can be adopted to apply quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer or mature human feces and urine with water flushing to promote pod growth. Lentils prefer nitrate nitrogen to ammonia nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen fertilizer will inhibit its growth and development, so more urea or human feces are used when topdressing. In the podding period of the lower inflorescence, it is usually watered and fertilized once a month, and about 10 kg of ternary compound fertilizer is applied per mu, or 100 kg of human feces and urine. During the podding period of the middle inflorescence, it is generally 8-10 watering and fertilizing once, each time 7-8 kg of urea per mu, and the podding period of the upper inflorescence, usually once every 10 days, each time 5 kg of urea and potassium sulfate per mu.

3. Harvest

Lentils grow long and heavy half a month after flowering, when the commodity value is very high, so it is suitable for harvest. There are generally more than 8-10 flower buds on an inflorescence, but only 3-5 flowers and pods. Attention should be paid to the protection of these flower buds during harvest. After harvesting the first stubble pods, the retained flower buds will accelerate their development and produce secondary pods.

The above is the introduction of the key points of the flower and pod period management of flat beans. I hope it can help you. If you want to know more about it, please follow us.
