Root celery, as its name implies, is a new type of nutrition and health special introduced from abroad in recent years, which has the effects of lowering blood pressure, calming, diuresis, promoting appetite and so on. It is mainly used with fleshy roots and petioles, and its nutritional value is higher than that of traditional celery, so how should root celery be planted if it is to be high-yielding? Let's get to know it.

1. Raising seedlings

The root celery seed is small, the seed coat is oily, the water absorption is slow, the germination time is long, the optimum germination temperature is 15-20 degrees, lower than 4 degrees or higher than 25 degrees, which will lead to the difficulty of germination and low germination rate, so we should pay attention to it. Generally, sprouting treatment is carried out before sowing, and seedlings can be raised in a hole tray or in a seedling bed. The water management can be relaxed slightly after emergence, and a layer of fine soil can be covered after seedling emergence in order to preserve soil moisture and fix seedlings. Attention should be paid to weeding and inter-seedling at seedling stage, and fertilizer concentration should be paid attention to after topdressing 2-3 times according to seedling field. At the same time, we should also pay attention to diseases and insect pests, spray pyrethroids insecticides every 10 days, under suitable conditions, seedlings can be planted in about 60 days.

2. Soil preparation and fertilization

The fertile and loose soil was selected as the planting site, and 4000-5000 kg of rotten organic fertilizer, 0 kg of superphosphate and 10 kg of potassium sulfate were applied per mu as base fertilizer. After turning deeply and raking flat, the border surface was raked flat, and then it could be planted. Because most of the root celery is on the ground and on the ground, it is not necessary to cultivate it by means of high ridges.

3. Colonization

Planting needs to be watered thoroughly one day in advance to avoid less root damage, and the seedlings should also be watered one day in advance, which is beneficial to raising seedlings. If diseases and insect pests are found, concentrated pesticides should be applied before planting. Horizontal border planting, early-maturing and middle-maturing varieties are planted in 4 rows per border, with a plant spacing of about 33 cm and 5000-6000 plants per mu; late-maturing varieties should appropriately increase the row spacing, planting about 4000 plants per mu, and should not be too deep to bury the roots, and should be watered immediately after planting.

4. Field management

After 2-3 days of planting, watering slow seedling water once, ploughing and loosening the soil when the soil moisture is suitable, then keeping the soil moist, watering and topdressing once after planting for one month, applying 10 kg urea per mu. In the fleshy root expansion, should be more watering, at the same time should pay attention to the supply of potash fertilizer, combined with watering, every 1-2 times to apply ternary compound fertilizer, 20 kg per mu. During the growing period, the old leaves and lateral branches should be removed in time to facilitate permeability. When the fleshy root is enlarged, the soil of the root system can be removed and the shallow lateral root can be removed with a knife to make the main root hypertrophic and should not be watered after cutting to avoid wound infection and decay.
