Autumn spinach is an overwintering vegetable sown in autumn and harvested in spring, which generally begins to overwinter at the end of November to turn green at the beginning of March of the following year, for more than 100 days, so under the condition of long-term low temperature, how to ensure the safe overwintering of spinach to achieve high yield. So how to manage autumn spinach overwintering? Let's get to know it.

1. Pour frozen water

Watering frozen water must be "one fixed" and "two suitable". It must be decided whether or not to irrigate frozen water according to the water content of the soil. Generally, the water content of sandy loam soil is less than 15% and that of loam soil is less than 17%. Frozen water should be watered when clay is less than 20%. The second suitable is to irrigate frozen water timely and appropriately, and the time of watering frozen water should be when the plough layer of soil can defrost during the day, and when there is freezing at night, appropriate watering also means that the frozen water should not be too much and too little, and it is appropriate to add soil moisture.

2. Make good use of winter fertilizer

Topdressing overwintering fertilizer can increase the content of soil nutrients, which can be used in winter and spring, and promote the weak to become strong, especially for the vegetable fields with low base fertilizer, poor soil fertility and weak seedlings. Therefore, it is necessary to apply overwintering fertilizer in combination with frozen water, generally applying 10 kg of urea or 20 kg of ammonium sulfate per mu, and topdressing with water.

3. Mulch to prevent cold

The low temperature during the severe cold period in the northern region is extremely disadvantageous to the spinach seedlings overwintering, so the measures of mulch to prevent cold should be adopted to increase the ground temperature and ensure the safety of spinach seedlings. Generally, mulching can be carried out after all the soil in the plough layer is frozen, and the mulch can be a farm fertilizer rich in organic matter and crushed and mashed, about 1000 kilograms per mu.
